You’ll want a bookstore photo session after seeing this retro wedding inspiration
This ultra stylish, 1950s-themed wedding inspiration got us right in the bookish feels. The bookstore backdrop is tickling our geeky hearts. I’m loving the aesthetic of myriad piles of books, shelves receding into the distance, and old wood from floor to ceiling. I wish we had scratch-n-sniff technology for the book smell! Plus, it’s totally a stealable idea for your own engagement shoot or wedding portraits.
Favor idea o’ the day: mini original artwork favors!
Rachel has a PhD in neuroscience but makes her living as an abstract artist. She and partner Deryck wanted a natural, woodsy feel to their wedding and included board games like Cards Against Humanity.
But my favorite part of the day was their favors. Each guest could take an original piece of abstract art created by the pair! Now that’s a favor to cherish.
When Murder, She Wrote’s Jessica Fletcher told everyone what it means to be “unplugged”
Emily and Branan’s wonderfully weird wedding somehow got Star Wars, wrestling, and badminton all into the day… AND they used photos of Angela Lansbury’s Jessica Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote educate the guests on what it REALLY means to have an unplugged wedding!
No cake? No prob! Pull a “Lady and the Tramp” for your alternative cake cutting photos
If you’re opting for a non-cake alternative for your wedding dessert, you might be thinking, “but how will we do a cake-cutting photo?!” Fear not, there are awesome options. Pull a Lady and the Tramp-style move (you know, sharing the spaghetti?) and eat from both ends of a donut, like Sadie and Devin did at their adorable brewery wedding. Alternately, duo-bite into a cupcake, a slice of pizza, a big ol’ hot dog… whatever your nosh of choice may be.
Halloween couples: steal this zombie piñata idea for your reception
Halloween couples: are you planning a wild stunt for your reception? Should it maybe involve the destruction of a zombie piñata? You’ve got a few months more to plan for your own Halloween wedding, so now’s the time to make or snag a zombie piñata (you can find some easily on Amazon!) and fill it with ghoulish candy (or adult drinkies!) and be ready to go nuts.
Garter toss alternative: a bottle of booze under lock and key
Not a fan of tossing undergarments to a group of guests? We hear you, and so does bride Diana, of Legend of Zelda wedding fame. She wasn’t keen on tossing a garter so she and her groom Trey devised a garter toss alternative involving some free booze!
Here’s how it all went down…
