Because we were both writers, and because fiction plays such a big role in our lives, we knew from the beginning we wanted stories to be central to the wedding. We aren’t ones for staying up late and absolutely LOVE tea, so a storybook wedding with afternoon tea was the most natural choice in the world!
Our fairytale wedding included medieval and fantasy elements, with much inspiration from The Lord of the Rings. We personalized our non-religious ceremony, and included many nods to Tolkien. We even had a “House Sword” specially forged for the ceremony!
Melanie and Eric’s Middle Earth fantasy wedding was fantastic enough, but their vows tell the rest of the story. Bonus: pictures from their equally epic engagement at Breitenbach Castle!
BIPOC folks have infiltrated Middle Earth, and we’re here to stay, bay-beee! With the recent conversations (er, racist grumpiness) around BIPOC actors in the new Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power show, we’ve put together a few of our favorite Lord of the Rings weddings featuring BIPOC newlyweds!
We were so excited by the new The Rings of Power series that we had to put together these Lord of the Rings-inspired wedding ideas. From Middle Earth wedding attire to Tolkien-approved wedding ceremony ideas, you’ll want to steal all of these for your own LOTR celebration.
Caro and Colleen wanted to impart the sense that life is an adventure and marriage is the not the beginning, but the next step. See how they created a beautiful adventure-filled ceremony script with a subtle Lord of the Rings reference and a guest acknowledgement.
