Hey, friends! It’s Ariel, the founder of Offbeat Wed.

I wanted to take a minute to talk about something important that’s been coming up for queer couples in our community. After the U.S. presidential election last week, there’s huge amount of concern and uncertainty about how potential changes in the administration could impact the legality and security of queer marriages. For some, this has created a real urgency to tie the knot sooner rather than later.

Enter my amazing colleague, Alysia Cole. She’s been working on something truly impactful: a list of wedding vendors who are offering deep discounts, “pay-what-you-can” options, or even free services specifically for queer couples looking to elope in 2024.

Because Offbeat Wed has always been about supporting our community, I want to both amplify Alysia’s work and also creating a list of our own. I’m pulling together a lineup of Offbeat Wed vendors who are offering special discounts or even complimentary services for queer elopements happening this fall.

This isn’t just a general “queer-friendly” vendor list—this is a resource specifically for couples who may feel pressured to get married quickly and need help making it happen affordably. These businesses are stepping up in a big way, and every booking helps them continue offering this kind of support to our community. These offers are especially remarkable given that the past few years have been tough for the wedding industry.

My hope is that this will be a go-to resource for anyone who needs it, helping to make these unions happen even in uncertain times. We want y'all's weddings full of love, joy, and celebration—no matter what comes our way next year.
