It's time for a little inappropriate staring and offbeat groom ogling. This one is dedicated to grooms who are reinventing the tuxedo — top hats, tails, goggles, and even some rubber.
How much did you swoon for this Pride and Prejudice-themed, Victorian wedding from Kate Sommers Photography? Well, HELLO Mr. Darcy and friends!
Dude, I tip my hat to you for the fabulous vest and jacket, the gloves, the goggles and the hat. It's like Michael Jackson meets The Tudors … in other words, it's fucking awesome.
Throw a cowboy hat on a guy, add a horse, and what do you have? Wild west hotness! Also, I'm seriously digging the pattern on the vest and bow tie.
Is it the sepia tone or the cane + top hat + tails that makes this look like a most treasured vintage photograph?
A capeGreatcoat, a burgundy vest, a cane, and a cemetery? It's just all kinds of frightful right!
You may remember Jes's two fabulous dresses from the Monday Montage a few weeks back. This thoughtful, geeky, steampunk wedding won't disappoint. -Becca
You've seen this groom and his rain boots before, but I just had to show you his amazing outfit complete with pocket-watch and chain again… and again!
We pretty much all freakin' died when we saw the Gyronauts' zomg uh-MAZING wedding, so I had to include Sean's outfit — it was the inspiration for the wedding!
I must know more about this wedding! (Hint, hint). How much do you love the goggles on the top hat and the twirly bow tie things? (That's totally the historically accurate term by the way.) You love them SO MUCH!
It's no secret that I was totally head-over-heels in love with Sonja & Wade's punk rock wedding AND it's no secret that Wade rocked some serious punk rock, top hat, combat boot hotness during the ceremony.
What can I even say about this bad-ass groom and his groomsmen? I mean there's a partially shaved head, a blown kiss, and leather pants. How can you not just fall in love with them right now?

If you had a groom with an awesome fashion statement of his own, add the pics to our Flickr group and tag them with "groom gear" so we can all enjoy!
Just to be That Guy, I think what you called a cape is actually a greatcoat. (This is what happens when you’ve worked on four different productions of A Christmas Carol.)
OMG, GREATCOAT! I learned something awesome today!
My brother was in a wedding where the groom and all the groomsmen wore winter camouflage vests with their tuxes. Granted this was a U.P. wedding and the best man did give the groom a new shotgun at the reception, so it wasn’t really that unusual of a clothing choice.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this – my FH has been needing inspiration and has found NOTHING except some Offbeat posts… until now! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
Glad we could help!
He could also check out the post on Tuxedo Alternatives.

So excited for this post, my fellow wants tuxedos and you’ve given me some great ideas about how to ‘offbeat-afy’ a tux! 😀
Love it! We were looking at doing the whole morning suit thing, but realised that in Australia’s January heat, all those clothes are just not going to work, so looking for something formal but much cooler…
Have you seen Barong Tagalogs? They’re kind of like a formal tunic from the Philippines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barong_Tagalog
I love this post and the guys look sharo to be sure…but what about the casual groom. I am having a casual wedding in a park, and I don’t want my FH and his henchmen in tux or even a suit. How can they look snappy, but still casual?
Great idea Laura! I will start scouting super-casual groom outfits!
Until Becca gets that super-casual groom outfit roundup going, here’s her post she did on tuxedo alternatives to tide you over. 😉
Thanks for the link. I hope to find something more casual than a suit, or a vest, but more dressy than jeans and a linen shirt. And the search goes on…. 😛
Now if only all these grooms could say where their suits were made… I have the feeling finding something like these is not going to be easy!
I think I just swooned a little bit. Okay, a lot.
Swooning already over the handsome grooms, but its a little bittersweet knowing I could never wrangle my man into one.
I would seriously look forward to a super-casual menswear post. Also ways to accessorize, IE: Can you wear modify non-french cuffed shirts to use cufflinks? Are there ways to look “dressed up” without going the vest or tie route? Comfortable shoes? Even the tux alternatives are too fancy and restrictive. Any grooms out there wearing flannel and Carhartts?
If you find any answers to your questions please let me know! I am desperatly trying to walk the fine line between casual, and sharp as well as something my guy and his men will actually wear.
Also you can very easily turn a shirt into one that uses cuff links, as long as you can make button holes.
The guy in the greatcoat is my highschool theatre teacher’s son! wow. small world.
i love the lead in to this post. i like to ogle dudes…especially when theys all fancy shmancy like! I was reading this next to my FH, and he pouted a little. I told him the whole point of geting married was so i could ogle him at the wedding <3
