Aussie brides, a drag queen host, and a 100-year-old tree
This week’s back-to-nature theme would not be complete without Marie and Prue’s wedding under a 100-year-old turpentine tree at a fabulous estate called (what else) The Turpentine Tree in Kurrajong, NSW, Australia. And the photo of Prue’s granddaughter’s fist-pumping approval? Perma-smile engage.
Bedazzle your ink for the wedding day
Erika blinged out her fabulous dragonfly tattoos with little rhinestones, making them rival the most fancy-pants of accessories. In the wholly opposite direction to covering up your ink, adding cheap as free rhinestones is a pretty bad-ass way to embrace your tattoos and look a little more shiny in general.
A capelet, cootie catchers, and a giant doughnut at this Georgia wedding
Emily and Tim take the prize for masters of subtlety. At a glance, you may not even notice the bitchin’ geeky and superhero details because everything is just so damned elegant! But those details are there and they are FUN: a little red capelet (to match Emily’s subtle fire engine red hair streaks), D20 cookie favors, and their Batman and Superman sneakers.
Play a “stand up/sit down” game at your wedding reception
Jamie and Evan had planned a big outdoor game-fest, but some nasty, rainy weather pushed them indoors. The good thing was that they had an indoor elimination game planned with a really special prize.
A backwards wedding with two purple dresses and a sweet sing-along
Tash and Jules’ Tasmanian wedding at Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm was a bit backwards, in the best sense: the reception came before the ceremony! And of course, the party continued after the ceremony, so it was like two parties in one (with two purple dresses, no less!). Tash sang a sweet song to Jules at the reception: “Hey Jude” became “Hey Jules,” and EVERYONE joined in, including the venue crew. Let’s just let Tash herself explain how that felt. OH, and wait until you get a load of the LEGO cake.
Fly in to your reception on a zip-line
Cari and Gary (oh, the rhyming glory!) chose a really rad way to enter their ceremony: via ZIP-LINE! No joke. That’s Gary zip lining into the ceremony above. But the best part was Cari’s description of it.
