Remember the transgender lesbian wedding we featured a few weeks ago that had a PB&J unity sandwich? I mean, it's kind of hard to forget something as classic as PB&J. Well, our Offbeat couple Cassandra and Evan really do go together like peanut butter and jelly. Even their taste in music (which they reference in their wedding vows) makes for a harmonious symphony. Once you catch all the bops mentioned in their vows, it's tempting to turn this into a super sweet Spotify playlist! You'll see what we mean…

Tune into their wedding vows inspired by music

Cassandra's vows:

When I was still a dumb kid in high school, knowing so little about the world, and even less about who I was, a beautiful girl caught me as I was walking through the halls. So caught in my little world I didn’t even catch what she said at first, but when she had caught my attention and I heard, I was in disbelief and overjoyed. And after spending years together with that beautiful girl I am so glad that she did catch me in that Hallway.

In those years I wrote you a medley of love songs you love. I thought to take some inspiration from it to express my love here. But then in the very first line of it, “Another bride, another groom” I realized, oh hey. This doesn’t apply the same anymore. We aren’t just another bride, and certainly there are no grooms in sight. There’s nothing typical or cyclical, or especially biblical about this. So instead I want to recount some memories through which we’ve loved each other with intention to carry the flame of that love into future memories.

Because

You’re gonna wanna be my best friend baby.

And we have been.

Through awkward and odd first dates which I still refuse to laugh at you for and you give patience for.

Through cakes, smashed by hand – very specifically red velvet ones with cream cheese icing because that was the only acceptable way to get for a while.

Through road trips down I-44 to Tulsa singing Austin Weber’s Mamma Mia or one of several broadway shows – especially Adam’s Family.

Through life changing transitions and ceasing to be musicians.

Through culinary masterpieces and blunders – with even the smallest joy of sharing sustenance, sharing life with each other.

Through hard times when believing we’ll make it feels impossible.

Through Cuddles and Scritches, and picking the cutest honey jars we can.

Gripping each others hands like chameleon’s using their mitts to hold on tight – this was a really important thing for you to hear back in 2019.

Through Jesus metaphor pandas who rattle our brains by saying “chitty chitty chat chat. Chit. Chat.” and promising that we’ll remember that for the vows.

Through shitposting ice cream attribute charts or on the thematics of each disney princess and their movies

Through times, when you are lonely or in darkness or wrongly convinced you’re evil. I’m so honored to be your love. To be your best friend. To simply be a part of showing you the astonishing light of your being.

I love you Evan. My Princess. My Best Friend. Let’s get married.

Evan's vows:

When I was 16 years old I asked the cutest nerd around on a date, to lock down a prom date of course.  5 dates and 6 months later, all the love songs were about you. So I made a playlist of all the songs I wanted to share with you when I started college and you were off at nerd school. Our love language is the only way I know how to say this.

“What do I know about love?

You’re what I know about love.”

“There was love all around

But I never heard it singing

No, I never heard it at all

Till there was you”

“Have I told you lately, I’m grateful you’re mine?”

“I have a dream, I hope will come true. That you’ll grow old with me, and I’ll grow old with you.”

“Through whoever you've been

Through whoever you'll be

Through whatever you lose

You will always have me”

So, “Take my hand, take my whole life too,

For I can't help falling in love with you.”

“There is nothing for me but to love you

And the way you look tonight”

“Thank heaven for you and to God, tip my hat

From here to the moon and back

And I'll spend forever just proving that fact

From here to the moon and back”

“Buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz.”

“In other words, I love you.”
