Donut Save the Date from attitudeandgratitude

I'm compiling this list of wedding dates to avoid in 2018, 2019, and 2020 in case you want to avoid holidays where family and friends might have conflicting events, holidays where vendors might be especially busy and/or expensive (think Valentine's Day for florists), or religious holidays where places might be closed or guests might have other plans. There are holidays where guests might not be able to eat your food, too. Think Ramadan fasting.

Does this mean you CAN'T book your wedding for one of these days? Hell no! Your New Year's Eve wedding? Do it! Your Valentine's Day wedding? Yes. A holiday weekend wedding? Sure, more time off for some of your guests (look out for higher vendor rates, though). But this list will give you some context for when you maaaay run into some issues so you can be prepared. You may also want to take your nearest and dearest guests' birthdays and anniversaries into consideration, though don't go wild trying to look at your whole list.

Lastly, this list is pretty U.S.-centric, so there will be international dates not included. Let me know what dates to add!

On to the dates…

Comments on Wedding dates to avoid in 2018, 2019, and beyond

  1. This probably goes without saying – but try to brainstorm any big, annual local events before picking a date! We pulled up the Cub’s home schedule before booking our Chicago venue but totally forgot about Lollapalooza.

  2. what about Cinco de Mayo? on May 5th every year. And St. Patty’s day which is March 17th every year. I personally thought of those two days but my fiance said no… so we ended up with an October date so that we do not have to share a holiday or birthday day with our wedding date.

  3. Hello Catherine. Thanks for the whole days. Unfortunately it is a lot again in 2018. It will not be easy to find the perfect wedding day. Because the family is scattered all over the country. But we can do it somehow =)

  4. In the UK this year at least avoid Saturday, 19 May 2018 as it’s the Football Cup final and also the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle. Also in the UK Mother’s day is in March,
    11th March 2018
    31 March 2019
    22 March 2020
