While searching for a venue, Christine and David fell in love with The Estate at River Run – an opulent mansion sitting high on a bluff overlooking the James River, just outside of Richmond, Virginia. They knew it could handle the moody, lush winter wedding they hoped for!
Books was our obvious wedding theme (the first indication being that the wedding was at a library), but my husband actually hates reading (…THE HORROR!), so we included some Sonic the Hedgehog elements because that’s his all-time favorite video game.
Denise and Lee exchanged their vows at The Poe Museum in Richmond, VA. Wait until you see the stunning purple details — complete with kitty bow ties!
“Let’s see… we have the snowflake ornaments, the Funko Pop advent calendars, the snowy owl placemats, and the unicorn ornaments in this tub. And in this tub, we have hand sanitizer, hand soaps, temporal artery thermometers, sanitizing wipes, and disposable face masks…. Did you pack all of your face masks?”
Quarters Farm was not only a beautiful place for Krystyn and Joe to celebrate their wedding day but is also close to their hearts. Joe grew up in the family home on the property. The bed and breakfast and barn were transformed into the most gorgeous wedding space, too. Their casual boho vibe included elements of Lord of the Rings, one of the couples’ favorite series. They also planned events and outfit changes to celebrate Joe’s Scottish heritage, including Highland games. Don’t miss all of their decor touches, much of which was handmade by Krystyn’s sister. Keep an eye out for a huge “One Ring,” jars of wildflowers, a flower dude, and loads of kilts…
When we started planning our wedding, we quickly realized that since our families were separated by many states (I was raised in the midwest, he's from Virginia), it was going to be a logistical nightmare for us to get everyone together in one spot, so we decided to honor both sides of our family by coming to them. So we planned two weddings, one in VA and another celebration in IL.
