This couple destroyed the Death Star at their Star Wars-themed vow renewal!

YODA SODA: This couple destroyed the Death Star at their Star Wars vow renewal!

Kerstin and Christian had a gorgeous vow renewal elopement-style in a railway underpass to reaffirm their marriage. For their actual wedding, the couple had to make many compromises, but this time it was all about them. Enter lightsabers, destroying the Death Star during the ceremony, and a toast with Yoda Soda.

Yep, it’s a Star Wars vow renewal in Germany that tickles all our nerdy dreams of an industrial-style wedding. You’ve got to see it…

One element that managed to combine all of these fandoms and movies into one was their ceremony welcome sign. It paid homage to all kinds of book and movie couples (both romantic and platonic): Lupin and Tonks, Cas and Dean, Arthur and Merlin, Westley and Buttercup, Angel and Buffy (ahem, shouldn’t this be Spike?), SLOTH AND CHUNK(!), and Carl and Ellie.

Plus, the ceremony itself took place in a theater!

Of course, if it’s not right as your wedding dress, can we at least see galaxy print bridesmaids? Oh it will fill our space-loving hearts with joy.

R2D2 wine cup on offbeat bride alternative wedding ideas from Offbeat Wed (formerly Offbeat Bride)

Designate a special cup for the bride (and other things I learned on Insta this week)

How’s this for a clever wedding idea to steal: If you designate a special cup (like this R2D2 cup!) for the bride, you can use it to signal to the wedding bartender that if they see someone cutting in line with it… that person is getting wine for the bride! Thanks to @claraganeyphotography and Darci Kim for the great concept.

Now, here are a few other things I learned from Offbeat Bride’s Instagram this week…
