Gotham city wedding party? This line of formal superhero fashion is killing it with geek chic
We already know Hot Topic is a bastion of geek and fandom wear, and now they’re branching hardcore into formal wear. Maybe you’re going full-on Batman-themed wedding party or just a subtle Batman reference in the groom’s vest? Either way, a little Dark Knight in your wedding can never go amiss.
A fandom welcome sign that steals our geeky hearts
One element that managed to combine all of these fandoms and movies into one was their ceremony welcome sign. It paid homage to all kinds of book and movie couples (both romantic and platonic): Lupin and Tonks, Cas and Dean, Arthur and Merlin, Westley and Buttercup, Angel and Buffy (ahem, shouldn’t this be Spike?), SLOTH AND CHUNK(!), and Carl and Ellie.
Sort yourself into the houses of this magical Harry Potter wedding
Rebecca and Zach love their books and especially Harry Potter. They featured a few of their favorite works of literature in their ceremony and the reception took everything up to eleven. The reception was turned into a Harry Potter wonderland from a sorting hat seating chart, Daily Prophet programs, magic wands, Sorting Hat Ravenclaw cake(!), and a totally themed “Anything from the trolley, dears” sweets table, the handmade details were spectacular. Even their music from the soundtracks was magical.
Time to get our Hogwarts on…
No lie: these Portal wedding cake, Portal cupcakes, AND Portal cake balls win the day
Keli and James proved themselves to be massive Portal fans with their three-pronged dessert attack: a companion cube cake, mini Portal cupcakes (that are no lie!), AND even tiny Wheatley cake balls.
A guerrilla-style Harry Potter Wizarding World wedding (with handmade outfits!)
Kevin proposed to Jessica with a stuffed owl carrying a ring box and a Hogwarts letter, so their guerrilla wedding at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando was a no-brainer. They BOTH made their own wedding attire and it was epic. Accio Wizarding World wedding!
#ErinAndTimGetMeowied: a nerdy cat lady wedding
Our wedding had a loose theme of books, cats, and glitter. I really wanted my four cats to be at the wedding, but it wasn’t possible, so I had to just let my cat lady status show in other ways.
I wore cat shoes and had a cat purse. We had our cats added to our cake topper, cat paw chocolate pops favors, and made sure to have cat ears at the photo booth. And, of course, used a cat lady wedding hashtag: #ErinAndTimGetMeowied.
