Offbeat Couple: Jodie and David

Hullo from Aberdeen! Please allow Sarah of Joy Story tell the tale of this head banger of a wedding in words and pictures:
Jodie and David turned a traditional Scottish wedding into something quite unique: a metal bouquet, a hip flask harness, battle jackets, a drumskin guestbook, Rammstein-themed cake, a teapot sand ceremony, and guitar pics as favours!
Jodie had her brother Mark and his partner Dave (their wedding was in 2022, yay!) as her amazing men of honour. I love it when couples break from tradition, because why the heck not?! Rules are made to be broken.
They shunned traditional flowers and had these amazing metal flowers instead. Not gonna lie, that bouquet could kill someone, Jodie definitely had her work cut out for her holding that. Worth it though!
And the metal buttonholes look so good as well, and a wee keepsake for the groomsmen & men of honour, perfect!
I think David was quite shocked to see Jodie in a traditional wedding dress, but you know what? Some traditions exist for a reason because she looks flipping amazing in it!
This might be the first Chester Hotel Wedding with a sand ceremony! It symbolises the blending of two people – and that the grains won’t fall perfectly together but they’ll be beautiful nonetheless. I love that!
We snuck the newlyweds away for a wee couples shoot down the cute wee alleys behind the Chester Hotel. It was a gorgeous Autumn day so we got some really beautiful light too and were able to make some lovely portraits with the seasonal colours!
And just like always – the sun shone on Joy Story resulting in an epic sunset rooftop session, whoop!
The music and metal theme continued through to the reception décor. The tables were named after their favourite bands and albums, the favours were guitar pics with their names on them, and a bottle opener made from part of a drum set.
Their guestbook was a drumskin to autograph – I love this idea!!
Their cake was musically decorated, with llamas on top 🙂

The lead singer of their band The Franchise was fluent in German, so they were able to do Rammstein justice – it was brilliant! Other highlights: their renditions of Limp Bizkit's cover of “Faith” and Ghost's “Rats“.
Jodie and David have known each other for basically their entire adult lives and it was time to make this shit legit. And we’re so thrilled they had us along for the ride! Their heavy metal wedding was so awesome, we had such fun with them and everyone there.
