There are lots of ways to show your love and respect to your parents (and parent-like figures in your life) at the ceremony. They can light unity candles, walk you down the aisle, do readings, be given a flower, and of course, be memorialized, if that's the situation. But we love the idea of the “mother's kiss” from Jacqueline and Felipe's country glamour wedding.
They decided to honor their mothers by getting one last kiss as single people before they were married. It was pretty damn sweet. Here's how they did it:
We exchanged simple vows and then proceeded to what ended up being my favorite part: the “Mother's Kiss.” After exchanging rings, our mothers were brought up so that the first person to kiss us at birth would also be the last person to kiss us as single people. I'm not a crier, but that moment with our moms totally got me. Then we were pronounced husband and wife.
D'awww.
Will you be including family in your ceremony? Tell us about it in the comments!
I absolutely love this idea but I need some help with verbiage. My mom passed away 20 years ago and my dad is remarried to a wonderful woman whom I love very much. How can I word this part of the ceremony in a way that both honors the mom I lost and celebrates the stepmom I have?
