Save some cash by buying in bulk
Finding bulk bags of candy, like these big bags of personalized M&M’S®, can save you some cash when it comes to providing for a lot of guests. Tip: save any fancier/more specialized/more expensive candies for your smaller jars and fill up larger ones with fluffier and cheaper candy.
Customize your candy to your geeky theme
Geeky weddings are one of our favorite themes, as you likely already know if you're a regular reader. Our awesome sponsor, My M&M’S®, has licensed personalized M&M’S® in Star Wars® and X-Men® varieties to make your geeky candy buffet ultra nerdtastic.
You can customize them even more with your signature colors (25 to choose from!), your own photos, themed clip-art, and names/special messages.
Go Mathlete on your candy needs
A quick rule of thumb is to allow for four to eight ounces of candy per guest, but an easy way to economize is to provide smaller favor bags/boxes. You can either provide these in pretty containers on a sweets table or leave them as favors at each place setting, depending on what kind of reception you're rockin'.
Decorate baked goods with more candy
If you're DIYing your baked goods or saving some money by purchasing plain ones, you can easily up your game by adding some candy decor. Add candies, like these Star Wars® personalized M&M’S®, to your donuts, cupcakes, sheet cake, or whatever yummies you have on offer.
Use props with abandon
Feel free to decorate your candy buffet with geeky props like action figures, movie poster backdrops, and geeky bowls and containers. This Stormtrooper in particular is getting into many shenanigans. Just know that if you have kids around, the toys may get sacrificed for the cause. It's a small price to pay for a rad tablescape.
Vary the height of your dishes
Try using some taller dishes with stems in addition to smaller/shorter bowls to add some height and visual interest to your candy table. In this case, I stacked one of these Star Wars® glass bowls on top of a stemmed tray for a little height. Think about using some inexpensive white cardboard boxes in the back rows to give your containers a lift.
