Unity candles, unity sand ceremonies, unity salt ceremonies, unity cocktails, and now the UNITY SANDWICH! Rachel and her groom decided that the ever-popular sammich was the ideal metaphor for their marriage.
Here are the layers and their meanings:
- Bread: The foundation that represents trust and communication
- Meat: Representing strength from protein
- Colby Jack cheese: Representing two families coming together like the mixed cheese
- Tomato: Rachel says, “Is it a fruit? Is it a vegetable? It's technically a fruit, but it's still weird and confusing… so tomatoes represent conflict.” HA!
- Lettuce: Pulled from the head, it represents the dreams they share
- Mayo and mustard: Adding flavor and excitement to the marriage
You may now take a bite!
Best ever!
That’s awesome! We would be having conflict over condiments. 😉
Same! I love this idea… but we’d never agree on what to put on the sandwich. 🙂
It’s lunchtime here at work, I have an hour left before I can take my lunch. That sammich is screaming at me. MUST. HAVE. SAMMICHESSSS!
LOL! And I like how it serves the dual purpose of making sure the couple eats something.
“Dude, I bet we’ll be really hungry by the time the ceremony rolls around.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan…”
I didn’t even think of that! I’m completely jacking this idea. Utter genius.
My fiance is going to lose his mind for this idea! and knowing that he’s going to love it makes me love it that much more!
My fiance LOVES sandwiches…hmm…
THIS. IS. GENIUS. I may have to do something like this…
Provided nobody is too nervous to eat, this is really cool!
AAAAAAAAHHHH!!! I love it!
So freaking adorable. I love this website! I’m inspired to happy tears!
these two look like a fun couple!
This is in our timeline, our planner will be getting it out of our fridge and setting it up. I will post pictures. I have to say, I think this is the part we’re most excited about!
My fiancé and I are doing a burrito unity ceremony. We are each going to add toppings that we like some of them my partner will not like and I won’t like some of his. But we are learning to appreciate the things the other enjoys even if we dislike them ourselves. (I like nature and he likes video games. So I will end up dealing with jalapeños while he deals with sour cream.) we don’t have specific meanings for our ingredients but it’s supposed to be fun. We are having chipotle at the reception.
