Devon Rowland Photography
Hello! I'm Devon, named for both my grandfather and Devonshire Cream.
I change my hair a lot, share too many pictures of my cat, and photograph just about anything and everything.
After taking a photography class in college, I hauled my little Nikon D40 around with me anywhere and everywhere, photographing burlesque, sideshow, fire performance, and swing dancing because those were the things I was into.
Summer of 2011 was when I got my first full-time photo gig at the US Naval Academy documenting Plebe Summer. I followed that up with a newborn photography job through a company while I built my own business but I’ve been flying solo for a while now and I love it.
Nowadays I primarily photograph weddings, families, and portraits, though I still poke my head into the occasional show or dance event. My style is warm, fun, and colorful with an emphasis on images that are full of emotion and personality.
Your wedding day is about you, your favorite people, and celebrating your love. My photography is about documenting all of the fantastic moments as they happen, capturing stellar portraits for you to cherish now and always, and to keep the day light and fun for everyone.
How I cater to offbeat weddings
Offbeat weddings are my jam. I’ve photographed more handfastings in a field than traditional vows in a church, though I’m happy to be there to document the “I do!”s wherever they may happen. Whether you’re a Pennsic-going, fire spinning, DnD playing Gryffindor or just a little outside the box, my photography is about documenting the magic of your wedding day and the party that ensues.
"Devon Rowland is the best goddamn photographer on the East Coast. We had her for our wedding because she was an old friend from my swing dancing days, and we absolutely had a blast with her. She made us feel so comfortable, and she tailored all of our photos to best suit our personalities, and she was so well organized and prepared that we knew exactly what to expect when our big day came. She was extremely accommodating, especially since our wedding was quite far away from where she lived (in CT!) and she did her best to make sure everything was perfect for us. I am normally a pretty shy person who doesn't like photos, and so she was perfect for us! I couldn't have been happier or more relaxed, and our photos couldn't have turned out more beautiful!"
