Inclusive boudoir is for EVERY BODY

I used to be on the fence about doing a boudoir photography session. Thanks to mainstream wedding media, I thought you had to be a cis het skinny white woman to have the luxury of a boudoir experience. But once I saw this post about radically inclusive boudoir, I realized I couldn't be further from the truth. This incredible boudoir line-up is a testament to that. Wait till you see the diversity…From queer couples boudoir, men doing boudoir, and even moms getting their own session, you'll see all the boudoir possibilities out there!

It made me realize that boudoir is for all body types, at all times in your life. Seeing that post inspired me to find an inclusive boudoir photographer and book a session for my 30th birthday, three years after my wedding. Now, I'm the biggest advocate for inclusive boudoir photos and I will never shut up about them! Y'all can catch me in my grave wearing my best lingerie, baby. Oh, and I learned you don't even have to wear lingerie to a boudoir shoot and can opt to don as little or as much clothing as you want.

When should you do a boudoir shoot?

Most folks think the only time they should see the inside of a boudoir studio is if they're a bride giving a groom the gift of a sexy photo album on their wedding day. But truthfully, you can have a boudoir photo session ANY. TIME. YOU. WANT. You don't have to be a bride with a groom (YASSS, queer boudoir!) or even BE a bride (Dudoir?! OH MY YES!) You don't need to do them for someone else, heck, you don't even need a reason to do one.

A boudoir shoot, also known as a self-love session, can simply be a gift to yourself.

Are boudoir photos a good idea?

Yes! Plus, I selfishly believe the more diverse folks who get in on boudoir, the more we can collectively empower ourselves to take up space with our incredible bodies in a world where Eurocentric body image and beauty standards have been shoved down our throats. You can have a boudoir photoshoot regardless of gender expression or identity! You can have a boudoir session to celebrate your own body! You can have a couples boudoir session as a way to commemorate your love on camera.

The sky's the frikken limit if you want to do a boudoir photo shoot. If you're still wondering “Should I do a boudoir photo shoot?” we hope these body positive and inclusive boudoir session photos will inspire you to book your first boudoir shoot!
