After 25 years and a second chance at life, this silver wedding anniversary in Paris is sublime

It was love at first sight at the supermarket in 1991 in the Netherlands. We got married on August 24, 1994. 25 years later we decided to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary in Paris for a few reasons. Firstly, being grateful for 25 years of married life. In 2018, my husband had a brain hemorrhage and we are grateful for his second chance in life. And we were extremely happy to invite our best friends forever who were our bridesmaids and groomsmen at our wedding 25 years ago to celebrate it with us in the most romantic city in the world — Paris.

Laura and Eavan wanted a movie and musical-themed wedding so it made perfect sense to choose a newly renovated theatre as their venue. They had matching shoes and wooden rings made with quotes from Lord of the Rings inscribed. There’s also a nod to the film Labyrinth in the crystal ball photos. A cozy & wintry destination wedding in the The Austrian Alps (with a dirndl dress!)

Laura and Patrick had an Austrian destination wedding that was incandescent. They traveled from the U.S. to their favorite little village in the Austrian Alps. They bonded over their mutual travels and their shared love of a town called Hopfgarten. It eventually became the venue for their wedding. Patrick stumbled upon Berggasthof Tenn while traveling and immediately knew it was the right venue. Laura agreed and it was off to the races with planning.

We both love castles and Irish history, and Craig wanted to have a death metal band play, so we found somewhere where that was possible, and arranged everything around that. We didn’t have a specific theme, but the castle definitely inspired some elements of our wedding. We decided to include our two swords in the day as there is a Viking tradition to exchange swords at your wedding as a promise to protect each other.
