Following a month-long trip and a traditional wedding in India, Jess and Chintan returned home to Portland, Oregon for a low key, small, and simple wedding with friends that took place on April Fool’s Day. The day began with a civil ceremony at Multnomah County Courthouse where the judge was gifted with a custom cake by Dream Cakes. Jessica rocked a custom-made gown, gold Loubotins, and gold sequin Converse for the reception.
After taking a romantic pedicab tour around the city, they returned home to their newly built house with their friends and family for treats from Voodoo Donuts and Poplandia popcorn following a dinner of sweet and savory grilled sandwiches from local food trucks, PBJ’s Grilled and Koi Fusion. It was delicious, gorgeous, and a total fusion of their favorite things.
This Star Wars-loving pair had a Stonehenge wedding(!!) that was amazing plus a huge, costumed reception back at home to celebrate their geeky and lovely wedding. You’ll totally want to see the bride’s black dress, her flower crown, the Star Wars meets Stonehenge cake, and of course, all of the awesomely geeky Star Wars details. There was even a Darth Vader cameo!
Bethany and Adam knew their wedding would be one thing: theatrical. They both come from a theatre background and most of the wedding party are are artists and theatre technicians. They tapped into the collective skillsets to craft a steampunk soiree with a stunning red dress, gear details, gorgeous steampunk-themed cake, and luscious bouquets. The day of the wedding was a mad rush to decorate the venue, frost cupcakes, put together favors and centerpieces, set tables, and lace stubborn corsets. Let’s bask in the splendor of this theatrical steampunk wedding.
Lisa and Dave’s sweet Wiccan wedding was a sight for sore eyes. Traditional Wiccan ceremonials and blessings were included in the ceremony, and Lisa was able to inject a little nostalgia via candle favors. One of the first gifts Dave ever gave Lisa was a box of Periwinkle crayons, so Lisa made crayon candles as gifts. But our favorite part was that they met back when they were just kids and reunited again on Facebook decades later. It’s a love story for the modern age. Don’t miss the cupcakes at the ceremony!
Lizzie and Chris’ destination wedding at Lake Havasu in Arizona was all about rock ‘n’ roll and retro style. Chris has always been the the groomsman with the mohawk at all of his friends’ weddings, so at his own wedding, all of his groomsmen decided to grow out their hair and show up with ‘hawks forming a whole posse of mohawk groomsmen.
Sonja and Elizabeth rocked some whimsically fabulous purple tutus, purple pants, purple Chucks, and even PURPLE HAIR along with their adorable daughter in a matching purple tutu. Add in the fantastic catering, the decorate-your-own cupcake bar, lovely DIY details, and a kick-ass dance floor, and you’ve got a wedding over which to swoon. Go get your purple wedding dreams fulfilled…
