The Offbeat Bride: Penelope, Owner/Partner at Farpoint Toys & Collectibles
Her offbeat partner: Justin, Owner/Partner at Farpoint Toys & Collectibles
Date and location of wedding: Inside the circle of Stonehenge, Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire, UK — May 1, 2016
Our offbeat wedding at a glance:
Our overall theme included Stonehenge, of course, because that was the location, but we also had a very heavy Star Wars influence. We had a custom invitation design patterned after the original Star Wars movie poster, my bouquet (a Darth Vader lightsaber design), and our rings had the famous Star Wars “I Love You” and “I Know” quotes from lovers Han and Leia inscribed on them in the Star Wars logo font.
Tell us about the ceremony:
We wrote our ceremony ourselves and had our best friend Kerry officiate. He painted his face blue and played the Braveheart theme on his tin whistle as we met and walked through the stones to him.
The ceremony opened with his rendition of The Princess Bride “Mawwiage” speech, then went on to recognize the ancient beauty and power of the place we were in as well as the important date (May 1 is Beltane, an ancient Pagan holiday). We then referenced some other nerdy things we love: Game of Thrones, Star Trek (our ring exchange was lifted entirely from a Klingon ceremony!), and harkened back to the Star Wars “I Love You/I Know” before everything was said and done.
Tell us about your reception:
Due to the sensitive nature of Stonehenge, we were only able to invite a very limited number of people into the circle with us. Because of that, we decided to have a huge reception back home after we returned from our trip, for all the people unable to come with us to England. We invited everyone to one of our favorite local spots, The Boneyard, and asked all our guests to dress as casually as they'd like, or come in costume. Lots of our friends dressed up and that made the party that much more fun.
Highlights included Darth Vader and I sharing a dance to The Imperial March, a Star Wars wedding cake with an edible Stonehenge replica on top, costumed character karaoke with Jay and Silent Bob, Axel Foley, and more, and our very own special signature raspberry cocktail, “The Bonehenge”, in honor of both our wedding and reception venues.

This is spectacular. I *love* the overcast sky in all your ceremony pictures. It all looks like a wedding out of my favorite fantasy novels.
We were very lucky that it didn’t rain!!! =D
Luck had nothing to do with it Penelope. 🙂
Um…WOW!!
Way to rock your wedding.
Well done- happy mawwaige!
Justin and Penelope are an amazing couple and it was a pleasure to make their dream wedding a reality. A truly memorable event for all who attended the celebration within the stone circle of Stonehenge itself. Loving the themes and the colours and how brilliant doing it at stonehenge.
Love the dress and bouquet too.
Everything about this is amazing! I especially love the lightsaber bouquet (my fiance and I are huge Star Wars fans) and the bride’s gorgeous dress, not to mention the breathtaking Stonehenge setting for the wedding itself.
Sometimes I look at the weddings listed here and wish that I knew the people in them because they seem so awesome. This is one of those weddings.
Come friend us on Facebook! 🙂 Facebook.com/farpointtoys
Absolutely stunning! The bride’s outfit is incredible, I love black and red as a theme. And of course, Stonehenge is a phenomenal setting; the overcast sky does make it look moody and magical. I also love the groom’s beard! Pretty epic.
This is so beautiful! I’m adoring this. 🙂
Btw… has anyone ever told your husband he has a Patrick Rothfuss look going on with that beard. Rothfuss is one of our favorite authors so that is awesome. 😀
Absolutely beautiful – nice job of working in all your passions!
So special, lucky couple!
One little but important note !!! This is an awesome location, it needs professional photographs. These are sadly poor amateur shots.
Not every shot here was taken by our pro photog. We submitted our entire collection of photos to Offbeat Bride – including some “poor amateur shots” taken by our friends and family – but not all our submitted photos were used here in the gallery. We’re very happy with everything about both our once-in-a-lifetime wedding and our once-in-a-lifetime feature here, but thanks eversomuch for your critique. Hope your wedding was or will be 1/16th as cool as ours! 😉 Cheers.
