Kate and Marc wanted their wedding to be about their story and the things that bring them joy: downtown Portland, their kitties, board games, video games, wrestling (WWE!), and craft beer. They made a dash for a local bar that had tons of arcade games as well as gaming systems for some pictures and Mortal Kombat, and they announced their wedding party and themselves in full WWE inspired outfits. The wedding itself was killer, but we are SO digging one particular detail: their aisle runner that had Roy Croft's poem, “Love” written all over it. Take a peek at that and a few more details from their sweet gamer wedding.

So great to see a wedding in the original Portland! 😉 Congrats to you both!
This is amazing! Are Kate and Marc willing to share how they made that runner, for those of us who might want to do something similar?
Of course we’ll share the details!
Paper – Dick Blick’s White Poster Bond Paper Roll, 60″ x 150′. Find it here: http://www.dickblick.com/products/blick-white-poster-bond-paper-rolls/
Stand – An “adjustable backdrop support” rented from a local photography shop.
Calligraphy – My uber talented cousin is an artist in Southern Maine and she graciously offered to hand letter the backdrop/runner. She used the biggest Sharpies we could find.
Assembly Tip – The roll-core of the paper is what’s used to attach the paper to the backdrop stand. This means that you either need to…
1. Unroll the paper, measure out the length needed and start the lettering near the rolled up side of the paper, or
2. Start the lettering at the loose end (leaving an allowance of blank space at the top) and then roll out the paper at the venue the day of, cut to the desired length and reattach the loose end to the roll-core (we used clear scotch tape).
Option 1 requires you to know exactly how long the runner needs to be prior to being in the venue on the big day. Option 2 needs you to have a general idea of the length of the aisle, but allows more freedom the day of the wedding. We went with option 2 since we brought chairs into the venue and there was some uncertainty around exactly how long the aisle would end up being.
All in all, it was pretty simple to create and gave guests a great “wow” moment when they arrived.
Thank you so much!
Yay! Another wrasslin’ couple! YES! YES! YES! YES! I’ll add an extra WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! in there, just for good measure.
Congrats! What a fun looking wedding! Love the pizza for the reception. Also pretty rad.
