Balloons and make-outs at this leap year wedding

We love us a good pop-up wedding. You know, where a couple has a mostly impromptu wedding in a usually public location? We've seen them planned out and totally on-the-fly. Either way, these elopement-style ceremonies are so fun.

This pop-up wedding at Santa Monica Pier in California was very public, ultra gorgeous, and super colorful. The carnival backdrop is making our day and we're giddy with the whole thing. The pair ended up losing their original bunch of balloons, which is a non-starter. These two needed their balloons! So they snagged some from a local party shop and all was well in balloon-land.

The wedding planner, Korinna from Le Festin Events, kept telling passers-by that these two cuties were big celebrities, causing a ton of awesome attention and rubbernecking. Who's going to know that they're not? And you know what, they are celebs to us. Let's see the famous pair in action at their wedding…

Comments on Balloons and make-outs at this carnival pop-up wedding

  1. I love everything about this! The huge smiles, the warmth and silliness, the gorgeous bright colors (especially the hot pink petticoat!). There is so much fun and happiness, I can’t help but smile.

Also, the wedding planner is a genius for coming up with that celebrity idea!

  2. Hey! Just a friendly reminder that unless you refer to straight weddings as “Hetero Weddings,” there’s no reason to refer to queer weddings as “Gay Weddings.” They’re all just weddings, friends. Adjectives like “super cute” and “terribly charming” still encouraged.

    • I see why they have the distinction, I am a person of color and I like seeing all weddings but I also search specifically for weddings with people with the same ethnic background as I have. I think the tag just makes it easier. I love to see how people with my ethnicity put their culture into the wedding etc. Some may want to see how someone in a relationship similar to theirs did their wedding just like brides with glasses or short hair may want to see that.

This wedding is super cute, I love everything about it.

      • Exactly that. We’ve heard this critique for years but the benefit of allowing for titles and tags to indicate self-identified labels is something that is so useful for couples of color and LGBTQ communities. But I totally appreciate you calling it out!

  3. I love this wedding! My dress/shoes are very similar so it was awesome getting to see them together! The lighting in the pictures are amazing! The whole thing seems like it was a blast.
