Planning a wedding can be stressful on its own, but how do you get through it when a major life event is also going on? This is what I had to figure out when, four months before our wedding, we found out that my three-year-old nephew received a very serious and potentially fatal diagnosis. I got bucked off a horse at my own wedding!
When I recently got married, I thought that I would be brave and try something a bit different at my wedding. Given that I am a celebrant, it made sense to take a small risk and do something a bit wild. So, I asked a friend with a beautiful horse if I could come in on the horse to the ceremony. Steph and Shawna seriously know how to rock coordinated pants outfits like pros. They knew black was more them anyway. On a friend’s property in a grove of oak trees, they had a laughter-filled ceremony including an amazing poem written by a friend. They collaborated with some friends and family to help design the centerpieces, floral arrangements, and cake to make the reception a work of their community. Nidia and Jamal had an adorable wedding at an A-frame at Ross Camp in West Lafayette, Indiana. They originally planned to have their ceremony outside in front of a pine tree and pond, but Mother Nature forced them inside due to rain. The ceremony included one of our favorite readings, “I Like You,” and instead of having a first kiss, they high-fived (and then kissed because why not?).
