A Star Wars meets A Christmas Carol queer disabled multi-state wedding (in a blizzard!)

When we started planning our wedding, we quickly realized that since our families were separated by many states (I was raised in the midwest, he's from Virginia), it was going to be a logistical nightmare for us to get everyone together in one spot, so we decided to honor both sides of our family by coming to them. So we planned two weddings, one in VA and another celebration in IL.

A chapel in Tuscon & playing their own reception: a fab desert New Year's Eve wedding

A fab desert New Year’s Eve wedding

Kendra and Thomas had a crafty, musical, beer-filled wedding day in Tuscon with heirlooms galore and so many meaningful moments: “Our priorities for the wedding were good music, good photos, good beer, an open guest list so we could include all of our family and friends (and their kids!), vegetarian Mexican food, and a FUN PARTY. We also wanted our wedding to be authentically us. We wanted it to reflect who we are and celebrate the life we have built together and the future we will share…”

A sweet and sunny same-sex beachfront wedding on Puget Sound

Julika and Jess were married at the Ballard Bay Club on Shilshole Bay in Seattle. Jess waited for Julika to arrive at the Chittendon/Ballard Locks for a super sweet first look. it all started out cloudy, but soon the sun peeked out and shed light on all the love and lit up Puget Sound as their stellar ceremony backdrop. The ceremony was conducted by Julika’s father, Rev. Jon Luopa, and included a tree ceremony!

So much magic at this butterfly themed wedding in a sculpture garden

So much magic at this butterfly themed wedding in a sculpture garden

Liz and Steven planned a fairy and butterfly themed wedding at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum in Austin, Texas. Liz’s late mother was known as “the butterfly lady,” so when the pair did a butterfly release after their ceremony, it had a lot of meaning. This was especially so when Liz was covered in the butterflies all over her dress. The symbolism is so sweet.

Don’t miss the greenery-covered tables, adorable mini bites at the reception, typewriter guestbook, and Liz’s gorgeous tiara!

An intimate bucket list wedding planned in two weeks after a cancer diagnosis

My husband died seven months after our wedding. The most important lesson I learned from our wedding is that when it really comes down to it, your marriage is more important than your wedding.

What I want to share with other Offbeat Bride readers is that if you are lucky enough to have found someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with, the rest of details don’t really matter.

Grab a plate of BBQ and check out this music festival backwoods wedding with a “tent city”

We used our love of music festivals as inspiration for our music festival backwoods wedding. We had food stalls instead of traditional catering, a couple of local bands, lots of tents, and an overall casual feel to the whole day. We hung hundreds of feet of string lights and accented the space with hand-painted signs and quirky little details like gnomes and mini VW buses. Guests were encouraged to camp out so there was a little tent city on the property.
