Holly and Kate’s May the Fourth Star Wars wedding had DIY Star Wars decor, lightsabers for every guest, and themed costumes galore. Here's a bit of their bittersweet background as a couple courtesy of their photographer, Zakas Photography:
Prior to meeting Kate, Holly was with a partner, Chad, since they were 14 years old. They were wickedly in love and Chad was diagnosed with cancer and passed away after many attempts to rid it from his body. After Chad died, Holly was unsure she would ever find someone who could make her as happy as he did. Shortly after his passing, Holly met Kate and was so surprised that she had found her. Holly says Kate was so patient with her during her healing, which they still go through together, and that she is still so surprised she has found love again so quickly.

We made the wedding ours by making it a Star Wars wedding (on May the Fourth, duh!). We're both big Star Wars fans, and thought it would be a fun way to make our wedding awesome. We incorporated little touches here and there, while still having a (mostly!) traditional wedding. Classy, but super fun!
We had a friend design and make the table centerpieces for the reception , and she did such a great job. Also, my AMAZING friend is a seamstress and made the dresses for the bridesmaids, did amazing work fixing up the wedding gown, and even helped one of the guests with her dress. She was SO great. What we're most proud of is how we were able to utilize our friends to help us out for the wedding. This includes our photographer Stephanie from Zakas Photography who Kate knows through roller derby. Holly immediately knew that she had to had Steph to do the photos. We also had derby friends do the DJing, announcing, and officiating! Yay for fantastic friends helping out.
