This Lord of the Rings wedding in a greenhouse is subtly nerdy

Gray and Samantha’s queer Lord of the Rings wedding is just what the doctor ordered – a bit of greenery, a dash of magic, and a whole lot of queer love! We absolutely love this wedding for its stylish subtlety (see if you can spot the theme…) and its earthy aesthetic – in part thanks to the greenhouse it took place in, in part because of its DIYed decor that you have to see to believe (and luckily you can, thanks to Violet Cristina Photography). The wedding included a beautiful handfasting ceremony, followed by an intimate dinner with guests and s’more fun (that’s not a play on words… there were actually s’mores). And the couple’s outfits were truly sensational – you just have to see them!

This Lord of the Rings wedding had two gowns

Whoever said any other color is the new black had not seen Gray and Samantha in their gorgeous black wedding gowns… that’s for darn sure. Both of their gowns are elegant and simple – and just feel very THEM. Each has a special detail that elevates the look – a little bedazzled lace sleeve and a little peekaboo chest moment. And we’re obsessed with how these black gowns make their vibrant hair colors stand out! Seriously FIRE. We have to say that only two words come to mind when we see two badasses in black dresses with bright hair walk down the aisle together: POWER COUPLE.

A Lord of the Rings wedding in a greenhouse? Shire vibes!

If you want the feel of an outdoor wedding but don’t want to have to worry about the weather, Gray and Samantha have a hack for you: get married in a greenhouse! That’s where this couple tied the knot (quite literally, with their handfasting ceremony). Having the ceremony inside a greenhouse gave their wedding a natural and outdoor aesthetic while still providing protection from any rain or wind that could have crashed their big day. We love how they surrounded themselves and their guests with a gorgeous variety of plants (those hanging ferns are poppin’ OFF) – and it saves a ton of work and money on flowers! The other thing we love about Gray and Samantha’s greenhouse venue? They got married in a place where things are literally meant to grow. We’re a sucker for a sappy metaphor…

The greenhouse was gorgeous on its own, but Samantha added an extra special touch with her handmade table centerpieces – each one its own little magical world. Samantha, we need your number for our next garden party, please!

They walked down the aisle together rather than separately, which I think really speaks to their connection and relationship with each other – I couldn't imagine it any other way.

This Lord of the Rings wedding mastered the art of “subtle”

Gray and Samantha’s wedding rings weren’t the only rings on their big day. Gray and Samantha went the subtle route with their LOTR details – a way to keep the focus of the day about their love for each other while still adding an extra spark of personality. But no doubt that the fantasy vibes were most certainly there with their cute little signs with LOTR references, Samantha’s magical centerpieces, “second breakfast” for dinner, and the goblet party favors – handpicked and thrifted by Gray and Samantha themselves. And between the natural decor of the greenhouse and the earthy decorations the couple added, their wedding looked like a place a hobbit would feel very much at home!
