How I made sparkly dream shoes

red shoes and swarovski crystals alternative wedding ideas from Offbeat Wed (formerly Offbeat Bride)I bought my wedding shoes very early on and, in my line of work, I get to meet a lot of brides, and I soon became victim to major shoe envy. So I thought, what are my dream shoes? Where can I get my dream shoes? And how can I get dream shoes without spending all my money!?

To be honest the shoes I had already bought where lovely… but just missed something. It turned out they were just missing some sparkle! So, I popped on eBay and bought a few bags of Swarovski crystals in the same awesome colour as my shoes and got sticking.

It took a few weekends and quite a few more bags of crystals, but i did it! I made my dream shoes and saved myself a ton of money too! I heart them.

  1. YES! THIS!

I have a huge, major, bordering on terrifying obsession with Wizard of Oz….and I most assuredly plan on wearing Ruby slippers down the aisle. Thanks for this!

  2. Omg LOVE LOVE LOVE those shoes!Might have to create some for my Zombie Walk experience to try it out before the big day in July 🙂 Woohoo for sparkles!!!

  3. It was so awesome to see this rad tutorial and then show up at Caroline’s wedding yesterday and see these shoes! Such and awesome wedding too. Congratulations Caroline!

    • NO way! Wanna send me an pro shot of the final result? I’ll updated the post with it. What a crazy coinci-dink!

  4. I did this to my wedding sandals! My wedding will be on the beach, and I bought silver flat sandals that were cute, but just not dressy enough, and the silver wasn’t quite right for my dress. So I glued clear AB faceted round beads to them and they look AMAZING… major plus: they’re coming with me on the honeymoon!!

  5. I really want to try this! But to my entire shoe! Think I’ll have time if i’m getting hitched in November? Or am I crazy?

    • I’m doing it got all my supplies in today! hopefully mine will look as cool! ^_^

  6. Where did you get those shoes in the first place? They are stunning – but the sparkle add soo much!

  7. I might try this – my desire for comfy shoes leaves me with some pretty drab options! What kind of glue did you use?

  8. Very pretty 🙂 I did this for my converse for the wedding (and a few other pairs because why the hell not?). I made a journal post about it and on the top, there is a link to the site that helps me (basically the exact directions here) but, if you look at other posts, they did a side by side comparison of different glues. I’ve found it super useful.
