Jenne and Vojtech's art deco 1920s-themed Texas wedding had some gorgeous moments (including a Star Wars t-shirt tribute from the groomsmen!). One detail stood out as a total steal-this idea. They offered up plates as their guest book! Guests signed them with permanent markers for placement on the couple's walls after the wedding.
Here's what Jenne had to say about it:
The guest book plates set by the entry into the restaurant for everyone to sign which later will hang on the wall behind our dining room table.
There are tons of ways to hang plates on the wall, so this idea is totally turn-key. I'm thinking that matching some colored Sharpies to your wedding decor is a great way to inject a little color, too.
More DIY guest book ideas:
My partner is a surfer so our “guest book” is going to be a surfboard! We bought a cheap one that he’s cleaned up, and I’m going to order a decal with our names and wedding date to stick in the middle of it. Then everyone can sign it in permanent marker. It’ll be pretty rad having it hanging on the wall afterwards 🙂
Friendly Warning! Sharpies can fade very easily with UV light! Make sure to get paint markers or something that isn’t alcohol based and light sensitive like Sharpies. Actually, a trick to get Sharpie out of fabric is to leave the stained fabric in direct sunlight for a few days. This is a lovely idea and it’d be a shame to have the precious signatures and messages fade after being hung up.
