Unhappy truth: It’s hard to find an abundance of gay-friendly and/or gender-neutral wedding stuff. Our gender-bending, same-sex-loving friends constantly get the shaft. Recently, we got a request for advice on where to find same-sex cake toppers, so I thought I’d show you some of the ones I’ve found over the years…
Weddingstar is an interesting company. They’re the ones that brought us some of the most barf-tastic and insulting cake toppers, but they’re also one of only companies that make a bride-in-a-suit topper and sell their mini-people in separates, like this bride, and the more casual groom in grey.
How much do we love that this cake topper has two brides in suits? And then there’s this one, with two high-fiving brides:
And then of course there’s this “Finally Mr & Mr” gay cake topper.
But maybe you don’t want that laser-cut vibe. Maybe you want cute little sculptures. BEHOLD!
Does anyone else out there have advice on where to find good gay and lesbian cake toppers? If so, leave ’em in the comments.

I love all the animal s&p shakers/cake toppers. I’m a sucker for adorable animals, what can I say? Besides “Who’s a widdle CUDDLE WUDDLE FACE?!” that is.

I’ve seen LOTS of cute animal wedding toppers on etsy. I was thinking of getting those mainly because I hate how cheesy a lot of bride/groom wedding toppers are.
hah, we actually considered the last of your suggestions for our fairy springfest wedding :DD because honestly, if it’s hard trying to find lesbian cake toppers, it’s nearly impossible to find lesbian FAIRY cake toppers. i love that “sisters by heart” one though. a lot.
we might just opt out of cake toppers completely, or make them ourselves.
i had a brief moment of wanting to use my highly adorable miniature my little pony figures.. until my fiancées look popped my bubble of excitement 🙁 she’s right, of course… but they would’ve rocked that cake.

We’ve been planning for ages to put our favorite rubber ducks on the cake (we’ve got a small collection). His is a black, devil pirate one, while mine is a little white one wearing a hat and scarf. Eerily enough, they sort of look like us!

We’re using Simpsons figurines — we’re a straight couple, but goddamn I hate those standard cheesy as a toastie cake toppers. And I’m a nerd.
We’re using Han and Leia action figures as our cake toppers! Action figure cake toppers ftw!
If you were doing cupcakes and into diy, I would suggest going to a toy store/model building store. They should have various models in various scales (army guys, people to hang out on model train landscapes, etc) that can be painted however you want. Gender neutral, maybe not so much. Customizable for race and sexual orientation? Totally.

She can take the heads from certain molds and put them on other bodies, so an easy mix and match! As for interracial, they’re all the same color though once in a while she paints them.
A guy-guy wedding I went to actually used toy soldiers as cake toppers. It was pretty cute.

That fairy figurine is beautiful! And you are soooooooo right about the initial thing being annoying, as not all couple take the same last name. I am, but it’s only because I despise my biological father and can’t wait to get rid of his name once and for all.
my mom actually got my fiancee & i that willow tree ‘sisters at heart’ figurine for christmas (she adorably did the whole ‘i know you two arent sisters,..but i thought the two girls holding hands fit’ cuteness)! i hadn’t thought to use that as our cake topper…i think it would work perfectly and would be a sentimental touch!

My girlfiend and I used the Died and Groomed mini living dead dolls. Whilest not two females it fitted in with our black and red themed and was such a different idea gender didnt facture in.
Fiance and I are looking for something specific. Have seen and fallen in love with cake toppers that are 2 rings. Sadly, they are all for straight couples and one of the rings always comes with a “diamond” on top. Would totally be up for just ripping the “diamond” off, but I think that would probably leave an awkward mark. Anyone seen toppers of just two plain silver/titanium/platinum looking bands?

I work at a photo lab and recently developed a customer’s photos… He and his husband used two stuffed teddies dressed as grooms. It was adorable, and totally fitting because they were bears ;D love it!

I’m trying to track down the perfect Alice and Mad Hatter for my soon-to-be wifey and I. I don’t want the Disney version. I would be fine with the Tim Burton style, but I would prefer something styled after the original illustration. Any ideas?
Wouldn’t it be a better idea to get those paintable figurines of anime & sci-fi characters. Not sure what they’re generically called, but I find them on most geek dedicated sites. Also, how about asking a friend for a tiny figurines sculpted in clay or play-doh- that could be thier wedding gift to you or if you can do it, great!
