My embroidered table banner placemats

I am making two banners to go over the table in front of my place and my partner’s. The one that goes in front of my partner’s seat is done. Now, I’m in the process of working on a second one with a doe instead of a stag for myself. When finished, the banners will go over the front of the head table in front of our places so that our guests can see them.

For you stitching enthusiasts, here’s how I’m making them:

The deer pattern is by Jenny Hart at Sublime Stitching (it is on the woodland creatures transfer set). I scanned the deer and blew it up to about 8×10 and then printed it out and transferred it with white carbon paper also from Sublime Stitching. The threads I used were “Wexford Blue” and “True White” from DMC and “Metallic Silver” from Sublime Stitching.

The border was done without a pattern — I just made it up as I went along, using the doodles in the margins of my high school note books as inspiration.

I used a combination of back stitch and stem stitch for most of the deer and border. I used blanket stitch to do the iris of the eye.

I plan on making these into pillow shams after the wedding!
