Sasha and Masya said that when they met, it was love at first sight and it seemed like it had come straight out of ancient Greek mythology. So it made perfect sense to channel the gods in an ancient Greek ceremony pulling from modern Greek traditions.
They said of choosing January for the wedding: “As per the Greek Orthodox wedding traditions, there are certain times of the year that are regarded as most fortunate for the union of two souls. January is regarded as the month of celebrating Hera, who was the wife of Zeus, and is known to be the Goddess of fertility as well as marriage.”
In terms of style, this is where the pair shined. Think transparent lace in Greek goddess style, a blue mohawk, lots of amazing ink, bare feet, bejeweled anklets, and a pleated white Greek-inspired skirt and white sandals on the groom. He really wanted to channel the pages of history with a form-baring look and it killed.
After two readings that emphasized the union of their love, Sasha and Masya took three sips from the “common cup” of wine. This tradition symbolized that from now on they would be sharing everything in their lives as a couple.
