I was recently reminded of a very fun non-floral bouquet that was a big bunch of silk butterflies from Karly & Jack’s Texas wedding. Faux butterflies are a natural choice for a bouquet due to their colors, textures, and of course, they last forever and can be made way ahead of time!
Whether you’re channeling Effie Trinket or just want to become one with the Monarchs… you can make this bouquet on the cheap…
How to DIY a butterfly bouquet
- Grab yourself a bunch of silk butterflies with wire stems (the more you get, the fuller your bouquet can be; this kind comes in lots of colors and even dragonflies!).
- Using a bouquet holder with a floral foam end, insert the butterfly stems to arrange it the way you’d like it to look. Bouquet holders can be pretty fancy, too, if you’re into that look.
- If you don’t love the color of the wires, feel free to wrap them in some floral tape.
- Optional: Add in whatever other decorations you’d like such as ribbons, baby’s breath, real flowers, crystals, brooches, etc.
Bonus: add the matching butterflies to other decor!
