I totally love Jesus Had a Sister Productions and I wanted to do something like their little packages. So, I first searched for '50s advertisement images of women. I preferred the Portuguese ads, but wasn't sure I was gonna find one. But find it I did!
This is the advertisement image I chose, a '50s ad by Vaqueiro, who produce margarine and butter. I totally loved her smiling face, super white teeth and hairdo!
So I designed this on Microsoft Office's PowerPoint:
The text reads: Happiness pills. Take one for immediate satisfaction and relief of concerns. Repeat when necessary. You won't stop smiling, not even in the Department of Finance's line or stuck in traffic!
I copied and pasted eight of those images to a page. I then printed the pages out on different colored paper.

I then got these little 7x10cm plastic bags from an office supply store.
I cut all the tiny ads into rectangles, and put them into the bags.
Finally, I just added the happiness pills themselves: jelly beans! I hope people like them, because I know I do!

The title made me think of a rave wedding and giving out “party favors” as party favors. I love this idea…and my idea, too, haha.

The funny thing is that we still use this margarine on our everyday cooking.

Eu adoro esta idea!!! I have a buttload of family coming from Portugal for my wedding, and I’ve been working hard on trying to think of ways to incorporate more Portuguese elements into the big day. Obrigado for this super cute idea!
My solution to this has been food…Most of the Portuguese stuff in my wedding will be incorporated as food 🙂 pastéis de nata yay!! 🙂
Me too! My grandmother’s Pasteis de Nata right next to the wedding cake and the caterer is learning how to make some Portuguese dishes.

aha! Funny that you’d share that link 🙂 thanks! I had just been discussing that with my cousin after I saw some other Portuguese wedding blogs and inspirational sites. My own wedding will be full of Portuguese “creations” but only because I’m Portuguese and will be doing a lot of the things myself eheh 🙂 a lot of cork oak I tell you 😉

It´s weird because I lived in the UK for a long time and when I came back to Portugal, there was hardly anything “different” being done here. Now that I know there is, I keep promoting it with pride 🙂
One of the shoots from that ezine was featured on another US blog not long ago (I won´t say which for fear of being wipped by Ms Offbeat Bride 🙂 )

Am I free to use the “Portuguese Pill” party favor idea?
I had been planning to have each table named after a country or city that we’d visited together (including Lisbon). But then I just had this idea to incorporate a tiny favor from each place at the table. This might work really well—what a great idea!
