I am considering having my bridesmaids wear wrist corsages instead of carrying bouquets. But I can't find any good, hip, cool, young-looking corsage ideas.
All I have seen is fuddy, grandma styles.
Help!

Now, Melissa. You didn't specify whether you were looking for floral corsages or non-floral corsages. But I decided you wanted non-floral corsages, and so of course I turned to my beloved Etsy to help me with this. Here are a few ideas…
A little formal, a little fancy: Pleated Wrist Cuff
I love seeing Offbeat Bride DIY projects show up in weddings! Indiana Offbeat Bride Conna recently coordinated her bridal brooch bouquet (DIY tutorial here) with... Read more
Much less formal, awesome for fall or winter wedding:
Gothic Love Knot Wrist Corsage
Similar idea, better for a spring wedding: Knit floral corsage
Very much of the Lasertron school of design, this one: Candy colored felt/button corsages
Understated — more a bracelet than a corsage: Freshwater Pearls Bracelet with Organza
Ooh! SO BOLD: Pink Poppy Bracelet, Hand Felted Merino Wool
Quite understated — but lovely for a nouveau wedding: Art Nouveau Cuff
Now, if you're looking for FLORAL wrist corsages … I like this one:
Or of course you could make your own…then the sky's the limit!
I used floral corsages for my family members. I liked using big single blooms–I thought they looked interesting and they were also less expensive. (Bonus!) Here's the one my brother's wife wore: http://www.flickr.com/photos/madriwitz/4035282063…
hey keira- this does look cool! what kind of flower is this??
thanks!

What will your bridesmaids do with their hands? That's really one of the reasons for bouquets. Are they going to fold their hands in front of them during the ceremony? What if you did a HUGE flower ring, instead?
I'm very comment-y today, aren't I?
Speaking for myself, here-the people who stood up for me and the fella at our wedding had different roles–chuppah holding, someone held a camera, played a guitar, etc. We also used "kissing balls" (and made many, many inappropriate jokes about the name) and one lady-friend wound up holding them both, while the other held the part of the chuppah.
I guess it's all about what works for you.
I think kissing balls (hee hee) are fabulous, and a fun thing to send home with your bridesmaids if they're silk or covered in something other than fresh flowers. Even then, they're a pretty bouquet! AND it's something awesome for a bridesmaid to do with her (or his…) hands!
I love the idea of giving the wedding party something to DO!
For prom, I had a wrist corsage made from floral wire and white / pink flowers. It was the most comfortable thing to wear and ended up as more of a really awesome bracelet with flowers then a "corsage" I would totally go with that meathod again. The florist (my aunt's friend) also added rinestones and other sparkly things that make 17 year old girls go bonkers. Though it wouls be a great way to add other things, like antique broaches or bits of lego- depending on your mood, to the bridal party. I'll add a link to the pick in a bit (It doesn't seem to be on this computer)
I absolutely love the first one! I'm making our roses out of paper, and I wasn't sure how to do the corsages for the moms and grandmas. That one is exactly what I'm looking for.
Offbeat Bride, Thank you so much for featuring our Nouveau cuff!
It's an honor & I would la-love to see it included in a wedding.
Happy Holidays!

I'm sorry – I just JUST read the note to wedding business owners. I hope I didn't upset anyone with my last post.
I work part time for a florist and do the majority of the wedding flowers. I’ve started showing clients the prom book before the wedding book. The bouquets in the prom book are more whimsical and all of the arrangements come in a lot more colors. The corsages and boutonniers also have WAY more variety. My shop and I specialize in flowers-to-wear with twisted wire accents, beads and non-traditional flowers, as well as other floral jewelry like rings, flower “tattoos,” and necklaces. We use the John Henry Prom and Homecoming books as our in-shop inspiration books.
