For those of us who have issues walking in heels (and don't be fooled: I love to LOOK at insane heels, but god knows I can't walk in them!) wedges are the perfect solution. You get a little elevation, but with the advantage of a more solid sole — and often the assistance of a little platform.
Today I'm wrastling up a few of my favorite wedges. These run the gamut from the more casual, retro end of the spectrum (beach wedding? adorbz!) all the way to glitter-crusted neon space booties for your sci-fi midnight adventure wedding. Oh, and one pair of fuzzy mice.
Well, it's Friday. That means it must be time for me to have my regularly scheduled freak out over wedding shoes. Related Post Sparkly wedding... Read more
Offbeat Wed Vendor
This page features vendors from our curated Offbeat Wed Vendor Directory. They're awesome and we love them. If you're a vendor let's get you in here!
Ariel, I feel like no matter what style of shoe you post, there is ALWAYS one covered in rainbow glitter. 😀
You’re not wrong. 😉
Is anyone else thinking of a late night double feature picture show? Love these!
Frank-n-Furter, it’s all over! Your mission is a failure, your lifestyle’s too extreme. I’m your new commander……
Dear participants in outdoor weddings,
Wedges.
You’re welcome,
Moi
Agreed!
I had a bit of an argument with a few people because I wanted to put a note on my website warning the ladies that we’d be on grass much of the day so tiny heels could be a bad idea.
Apparently some people thought I was ordering them around and put it in much the same catergory as “all guests must wear olive green”. I had a suprisingly hard time explaining that I didn’t care if they got a shoe stuck and fell over, but I thought they might.
This is PERFECT timing for me as I’m just getting ready for my bachelorette weekend and would like to get new cute shoes, but, there is *no way* I would last in heels all day.
I also don’t like the cork/rope-y stuff-on-the-bottom-type of wedges (just my own personal preference), so I love the “Cupid Island” one!! (And, of course, mice!) Thanks for posting! 🙂
Well, I don’t wear wedges (I don’t have a lot of principles, but this is one) and even in this shoe-category you’ve managed to stun me with awesome, fun and over-the-top. You truly are the queen of cybershoe-fun and I salute you. 🙂
Sad face! Every single shoe that I clicked on isn’t available anymore!
GAH. This is the agony of ModCloth — awesome stuff, but they have it in small batches, so things come and go. That said, check out what they’ve got in stock now — you may find something you like even more!
Will do!
Thanks for saving me from having to make this comment myself….It’s not the first time this tragedy has hit me lately….I *finally* found the perfect wedding boots and they aren’t for sale anymore! Gah!
Thank you for posting these! I’ve had the hardest time finding the perfect shoes for my beach wedding (multiple trips to DSW and I even ordered shoes from China!) but I found the perfect sandals at Modcloth. Squee!

love these espically the neon pink and yellow.
Just discovered Chie Mihara shoes… they look comfortable AND cute (here’s my favorite wedges they do):

Oh god no, the little mousie ones are gone! So much love, they look like tiny little mascot costumes for your feet!
I’ve just finished decorating my own awesome wedges…..I’m not a girly girl and I’ve never gotten used to heals (I wear them maybe one a year) but I’ve always been comfortable in massive platforms (from ya olde goth days) so I found an awesome pair of platform wedges from deminoia and covered them in glitter, ribbons and buttons! We’re having an outdoor ceremony witha reception on a field and the ground will not be level, so wedges are the way to go!
Oh hells yeah! I ‘made’ my wedding shoes, too! Wedges for a long day of being on my feet FTW!!!
I wore Modcloth wedges for my muddy rainy outdoor wedding — they were perfect!
If only this post had happened a year ago! I needed heels for my wedding because of my dress (floor length and it didn’t look right dragging on the ground) but I can’t walk in heels, find most of them incredibly painful and I was standing on grass much of the day.
My sister recommended wedges but it was suprisingly hard to find some that were both comfortable and looked good. This could have saved me a lot of time.
It wasn’t a year ago, but does TWO years ago count?
I know I’m late to the party, but these wedges are adorable and amazing.
The wedge party never ends. You cannot be late.
OOooohhh, I wish they had those mint wedges in another color, like orange. I’ve found a pair of unworn (!) vintage clog wedges for my wedding, SCORE!
I just saw these gorgeous wedges and thought an Offbeat Bride might love ’em too:

Wonderful post! I’m definitely a wedge girl, but I recently found the perfect shoes for my wedding… the only problem is that they’re stilettos! I was wondering if you have any ideas for turning a pair of stilettos into wedges, or if I should take them to a cobbler and get the whole sole replaced into wedge style. Any input is appreciated!
