You know what I never really considered when I was planning my wedding? Wedding signs. Guess what I realized that we needed when we were roaming the venue, trying to figure out where everything would go? Wedding signs. And, like, a LOT of them. I am considering signs for things I never thought I'd consider needing signs for, like the long driveway to tell people to keep driving. Or a sign to display the rules of cornhole. Or a sign to tell them where the food trucks are. I even need to make a sign to display all the table names and such. Oy vey.
So here's my roundup of wedding signs you know you may need and ones you didn't even know you needed to consider…
Tell them where to go with directional signs
Show them this is the right wedding with a welcome sign
Encourage guests to sign your guest book
Make sure to see everyone's photos
Tell guests where to sit
Warn people about your unplugged ceremony
Describe your signature cocktails
Highlight the good stuff
Tell people where to put cards and gifts
Photo booth sign
Let people know about important events
…And where they can get their supplies
What are the signs you're glad you had made for your wedding? What other signs am I missing?
Yep, this has made me start thinking about what signs will be useful. I think I was assuming the guests would be telepathic and know things, or walk around to work out where things are 😀 But something to tell people to sign a guest book can help stop it being over-looked, and this has reminded me that if we expect people to be able to find their table it’ll need a sign! Thanks for the memory jog!
Thanks for this post, it’s made me think about what signs we might need. I think I was just expecting people to be telepathic(!) or find things by wandering around, but a sign for something like a guestbook can help prevent it being overlooked – and if guests are sitting at specific tables you can’t expect them to find them if the tables aren’t labelled! So thanks for this reminder.
Gah, sorry about the double post – it seemed to disappear the first time so I thought I’d try again (which also disappeared – good thing I wasn’t persistent! lol). Apparently it was a technical hitch though as only today, a whole month later, I had an email notifying me I was subscribed to this conversation, which I didn’t get when I first posted! So sorry for two such similar posts.
We had most of the signs listed. One that we had that I was please with was “Please tip your bartender lest your potion be poisoned.” Our bartenders worked their asses off all night long and deserved to be tipped, and they were! I think having the prominent sign right next to the tip jar definitely helped.
Oh good idea! I think I’ll add “tip your bartenders” to our cocktail list sign.
