How I cater to offbeat weddings
Hi, my name is Heather (she/her), and I am proud to run a woman-owned business and identify as Q questioning. My favorite color is purple and you can often find me exploring the Chelsea galleries, exercising in Prospect Park, hiking/camping upstate, or doing the daily grind on our garden patio with my cat, Queen Nefertiti. She is my child and the Queen. I am an enthusiastic, offbeat type and an artist with an MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. Most recently I had some multimedia artwork exhibited at Miami Art Week 2021, in addition to running my editorial and emotive style wedding business. As a true conceptual artist-brain, IÂ struggle to connect with the more basic/everyday personalities, so I was very excited to find Offbeat Bride! Typically, my clients are biracial or BIPOC and here is a description of my favorite clients: a Latinx lesbian couple who were outgoing and passionate with a Brooklyn skyline view venue, a hetero Latinx couple who has this totally offbeat obsession with carousels and Disney embedded into their themes, a hetero white couple who had a prohibition theme wedding where the guys wore zoot suits, a biracial destination wedding with a star wars theme, and my brand new clients who are poly and getting married upstate. Socio-politically, I am all about feminism, LGBTQ+, and BLM. I offer a judgment-free, fun, and open atmosphere, and I love colorful and unique themes. As your photographer, you can trust me to approach your lifestyle with deserved respect and sensitivity. I am the type of vendor who becomes friends with my clients and makes them feel at home. We create heirlooms and memories that will last for generations to come and we are honored to be considered for your epic day.
Heather is fantastic in every sense of the word. Our relationship started when we hired her for our engagement shoot. She was professional from the start! We knew she was special the moment we met her. She has a calming presence and really brought out our organic love! We decided to hire her for our wedding a few months after. Leading up to the wedding day, we met to discuss timelines, outline wants/needs, locations, etc. She also advised us to get a second shooter which was the best decision we could ever make!! My wife and I both had our own individual shoots while getting ready which was so much fun and so cute! The second shooter totally matched Heathers energy and we were all just perfect for each other.
On the day of the wedding she was on time, gently directed everyone to where they needed to be, and she was extremely patient! We planned to have a first look and a bridesmaids shoot in two different locations. I was a little nervous about that but it was a walk away and I trusted her. On the way to the bridesmaid shoot area, Heather and her second shooter continued to photograph us. They took the most beautiful pictures I’ve ever seen! The bridesmaids shoot was right across from the Empire State Building on the Brooklyn side. The breath taking views with my beautiful bridesmaids was truly everything I wanted. Heather helped us pose and we had so much fun! We finished all of our pictures on time and we actually had to wait for some of our guest before starting the ceremony because we were there before them! Our ceremony was beautiful and I outlined all the pictures I wanted with our families. Heather made sure to capture each one even though the list was a bit lengthy. I also asked for a night time shoot and she made that dream come true as well! For the reception, they both captured beautiful, fun, and timeless family pictures all bursting with joy. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She is truly magical and will recommend her to anyone I come across!!

I can offer all my lovely offbeat brides 50% off an engagement session (if purchased separately) or a free engagement session upgrade within any wedding package.
I will happily offer 15% off any wedding package when both clients are BIPOC. Since they're often funding their own weddings, without help from generational wealth, I think it is of paramount importance to pay it forward to communities needing our support. What a better cause than love?
