The magic started as a kid making home movies with my dad's camcorder, and then later with my own digital video camera. I had fun taking an A/V class, formally learning how to make short films with friends in high school. As I continued with my fun hobby, I took up photography to learn the basics of manual exposure. Soon after, I had fallen in love with shooting stills and decided to pursue photography professionally in 2013. After moving to NYC a year later, I worked as a freelance photographer and videographer, shooting mostly high-end weddings & events. In the spring of 2018, I moved to Pennsylvania to pursue a new career– bicycle racing. After putting the camera down for a few years to be an athlete, I started shooting again in 2020. While currently living in western Massachusetts, I continue to work freelance around the Northeast.

How I cater to offbeat weddings

The idea of an offbeat couple having an offbeat wedding and wanting an offbeat photographer to document one of the most important days of their lives gets me beyond excited. I don’t consider myself a “wedding photographer,” instead I consider myself an artist who loves bringing his craft to peoples big days as their wedding photographer. When you hire me, yes, you are hiring over a decade of professional and conventional experience, but more importantly you’re hiring someone who has developed a style and wants to work with you to bring magic to your day! This is what I bring to the table– knowhow, experience, and some fine art flare.

One thing that makes me an offbeat photographer is that I don’t edit my photos. No, I don’t outsource my editing either. After years and years of editing my images (and hating every second of it), I found a camera system that really resonates with who I am as an artist in that I can sculpt different looks onto my images before I even shoot them. Using Fujifilm’s immaculate color science and film simulations, I’ve put the time and energy into crafting meticulously nuanced filmic styles that I’ve become very familiar with. This keeps me on my toes because I have to nail every image as I shoot them– no more being able to rely on editing to save mistakes! It also keeps images consistent and turnaround times quick; expect full album delivery in two weeks, not two months!

"I feel so lucky to have had sweet moments of a special day captured by Jesse. not only did he get great portraits, silly facial expressions, and group shots, he documented the vibe in a way that feels honest, intimate and showcases a true creative gift. I'm so glad that I wasn’t worried the whole time trying to take my own photos!"

“Jesse was our photographer for our backyard wedding in August and he did such an incredible job. He was great to work with- quick to respond, professional, and super thoughtful. He has such a natural and timeless photography style that allowed for such beautiful portraits and candids. This also meant a quick turnaround for editing and we got our photos back not even a week after our wedding! He captured the magic of the day perfectly and we will treasure these photos forever.”
