Elizabeth and Steve’s old school Nintendo wedding featured Marios and Luigis and Thwomps and Fire Flowers galore. One tiny detail that we especially loved was their message in a bottle guest book. They offered theme-appropriate colored Post-Its, pens, and small bottles so that guests could write them a note for the future. I guess being married is a little like being on an island sometimes. The week before my wedding, I had a bit of a freak out (familiar to anyone else?). I realized that my wedding seemed really… serious. And I was not comfortable being serious about an important life moment while a bunch of people were staring at me.

In order to feel more comfortable during my own wedding, I came up with a variety of coping mechanisms. Due to poor planning (and some resistance from relatives), I just barely missed executing many of these ideas. Here they are, my gift to you…

We celebrated Minerva and Max’s flamingo-clad vow renewal a while back and couldn’t wait to circle around again to remind you about one of our fave parts: the unity pizza-cutting ceremony! What’s better than taking the food you love and the person you and combining it all into a unity ceremony? Nuthin’.
