5 weddings that prove LA’s Rawtography excels at stunning wedding photography and video
If there was ever a photo and video team who keeps us googly-eyed at the weddings they send our way, it’s the LA-based superstars of Rawtography. They’ve captured some truly stunning offbeat weddings including one of the most amazing goth weddings, a natural history event complete with volcano, a wedding at the Houdini Estate, a Muppet extravaganza at Jim Henson Studios, and the incredible seafoam circus wedding of Dick Van Dyke and Arlene Silver-Van Dyke. Yep, THAT Dick Van Dyke.
Here are some of their favorite weddings (that are now ours’, too!)…
Enjoy the dark forest vibes at this moody and macabre wedding
We wanted to create a dark, moody vibe without going to over the top goth. We wanted our wedding to reflect who we as as people and as a couple. We both love the macabre. We decided to have our wedding have reflect elements of death (skulls, etc.) and life (lush plants, etc.) to represent the end of what came before as it transitioned to the new life we were creating together.
A retro musical wedding with 1960s revival & rock ‘n’ roll inspiration
Music is a huge part of our lives and I let the artists who inspire us most influence the design. We drank whiskey from tea cups and had the processional set to "Fawn" by Tom Waits. His lyrics were tucked in here and there. I weaved in my love of kitsch and vintage by collecting mix and match china for 200 people (it took almost two years!) and featured a unique, cool set of vintage salt and pepper shakers on every table. We had whiskey bottles (all enjoyed with friends and family) and vintage vases that we collected for flowers.
Bring a date or go stag: just get yourself to this nostalgic PROM-THEMED wedding
It’s time to relive your high school years (or get a kick-ass REDO!) at this retro-tastic PROM-THEMED wedding. Just to whet your appetite: Christy and Stuart were crowned bride and groom, they wore sashes, roses, and crowns, and even rocked the “surprise” of it all. The guestbook was — you guessed it — a YEARBOOK. There was a balloon arch, prom poses at the photo booth station, a pink stretch limo, corsages, and it was all held in an actual high school gym (winner for wedding venue we hadn’t yet seen!).
Whether you remember your high school years fondly or not, you can’t deny the nostalgic magic of this throwback wedding in all its prom glory. Grab some punch, spike it with something good, and get ready to party, prom-style…
