Alysa & Ansell’s geektastic extravaganza wedding
This week we’re celebrating our sci-fi-loving, fantasy-squeeing, and comic book-collecting couples. That’s right: it’s geek week! What do X-Men, a bounce house, a sno-cone machine, purple shoes and a wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey card box have in common? This wedding!
Fab dreads, skull flask garters, and a groom in shining armor
Karly and Steve are my new deadlock heroes. Karly’s two-tone updo is just gorgeous. This week’s reader submissions were full of other amazing shots, too, like skull-patterned flask garters, a groom in shining armor, an air plant bouquet, and a sidewalk chalked save-the-date. All of these submissions are making 2013 start off with a bang.
Aidan & John’s Celtic renaissance faerie handfasting
There’s a faerie attendant climbing under the bride’s skirt and a groomsmaiden finding out exactly what’s under all those kilts, and that’s just the beginning of this beautiful and sometimes bawdy renaissance faerie handfasting. These two and their castmates put one awesome production of a wedding, complete with royal officiating and Celtic music. Find out what color the bride changed into and how she managed the amazing sleeves as the evening went on.
Karina & Murray’s monocles and Mario wedding
Monocles and Mario Kart and much to love in this wedding — from the 1,000 origami paper cranes to the father of the bride’s amazing outfit, this DIY wedding has it all: self-catered vegan cupcakes (and an entire vegan dessert bar, ahem!), personalized vows, a divine red dress, and a seriously cool venue. Tip of the top hat to you two, too!
Sheena & Leo’s romantic garden wedding in a castle with dragons
Thar be dragons! What we have is a traditional romantic wedding with a deep red ball gown, a castle garden backdrop, and subtle dragons — on the cake, the invitations, and the groom’s amazing cane. Plus, the bride’s surprise shoes are killer.
Eva & Radek’s diet-friendly Czech wedding by a cave
Traditional Czech weddings usually take place somewhere indoors, but this couple couldn’t imagine a ceremony that was not in the open air. So they chose a gorgeous cave location and matched their DIY decor with mossy centerpieces and green details. They also tackled the challenge of accommodating lots of different diets including gluten-free, lactose-free, and diabetic foods. There was a ceremony near-disaster, but it ended up working out just fine.
