Dancing and prancing couples and some delish retro desserts
This week’s reader submissions had a lot of couples jumping, driving, dancing, and cheering, and they demanded to be put together into this Monday Montage! As a bonus, I pulled in a vintage candy buffet, some “cookie sliders,” and some very cool handmade vintage-style books used as invitations! You’ll either be inspired to dance or be really hungry by this collection.
Helen Isabella & Jonathan’s Victorian high tea wedding
There wasn’t really a theme, just a major mash-up of what they love: steampunk, Victorian fashion, Alice in Wonderland, and high tea! They also found a venue that allowed them to bring in a jukebox, homemade beer, and a fish and chip cart! And you will go nuts over the bride’s custom-made purple gown.
Katherine & Matthew’s tornado-threatened mix-and-match wedding
It rained and it poured on this poor outdoor wedding. But love persevered when they decided to get hitched come hell or high water. With the magic of friends and familial labor, an adorable book-filled breakfast room was made into a ceremony space. Along with their classy restaurant reception, it is easy to see even budget and weather can’t ruin a good time. (And don’t miss their son’s cameo at the ceremony!)
Fluevog shoes: buy them for your wedding, but wear them every dang day
At Offbeat Bride, we make no secret of our never-ending ongoing love-affair with John Fluevog shoes — you’ve seen them so many times here on the site that we have an entire tag archive for them. Even if you don’t think you know Fluevogs, you do. Remember Deee-Lite? Remember the lead singer? She wore Fluevogs.
…And if I have anything to say about it, you will too.
Mich & Dan’s gothic Transformers and cupcakes wedding
Tribe moderator Mich has a flair for DIY and it totally shows in her handmade dress, fascinator, shawl, bridesmaid dress, and 1000 paper cranes! And that’s not even listing everything. The rest of the story involves Transformers, gothic red and black details, and some of the sweetest dance moves, including a man-on-man Dirty Dancing lift.
Erin & Tadd’s quirky destination beach wedding
After a little snafu keeping their venue, this pair rocked the beach with their monster movie details, lush dessert buffet, and vows written by the wedding party. Plus, the groom had an additional challenge when removing the garter: the bride’s cowboy boot-shaped rain boots!
