Get the hankies for this bird-loving, double rainbow-blessed barn wedding
Our wedding was rustic and relaxed. We are avid birders (in a really hip, appropriate-for-30-somethings kind of way), so we included small bird-related details wherever we could. We snuck feathers into our boutonnieres and centerpieces, our cake toppers were a sweet pair of lovebirds, our table "numbers" were antique-framed Sibley's bird postcards and each of us referenced our shared love for birding together in our vows.
This couple honored their fine feathered friends with a “best bird”
Tessie and Gianni’s Australian Bushland wedding had some gorgeous DIY details like their flower-covered homemade cakes, mismatched wedding party, and champagne cocktails. But we couldn’t get over this bird-rescuing couple’s homage to their favorite pet, their cockatoo. They set up a very special floral-covered place for the “best bird.” Let’s hear it from the bride herself…
Mini birdcages as bouquets? Yep, put a bird right on that
Remember the steampunk-y goodness that was Greta and Erty’s Victorian-styled wedding weekend? Greta’s bridesmaids carried some bird-iful alternative bouquets — birdcages, natch!
Let’s take a peek at the mini cages this bridal party wove into their outfits.
Katie & Gordon’s bird-themed barn wedding featuring a naughty goose
This bird-themed wedding started with the perfect wildlife preserve venue. Flocks of fauna and a peacock circle made for some feather-y awesomeness. Except for when one very bold goose decided to invade the ceremony. But aside from rogue geese, this gorgeous wedding was luminous. Wait until you see the bride’s amazing feather sleeves!
This wedding is all about rain boots, fabric bouquets, and co-written vows pledging eternal love for cats
Holly and Jen rock at crafting: they handmade both of their bouquets and all of the desserts served at their wedding, including the three-tired wedding cake! Yellow and gray clearly ruled the day, as evidenced by the rain boots worn by the brides, the ribbons used for their handfasting, and the crows and bird cages printed on the dessert cookies. The pair bridged sentiment and humor with their co-written vows, including promises to accept each cat brought into their lives and staying together long enough to see what one another’s tattoos look like in old age.
A most colorful DIY wedding + bonus canine attendant
Rachel and Rich’s photographer, Pilster Photography, described Rachel as “the queen of DIY” so I know some of y’all are going to love this super happy celebration. These two had a limited budget and pulled together a day that radiates sunshine and giggles — complete with having their dog come along for the day.
