BIPOC

Based on reader feedback that it was “hard to find any weddings of people of color,” we started tagging posts that featured a BIPOC bride and/or groom — and/or means you’ll find tons of interracial couples in here! Increasing visibility for BIPOC folks has been a priority for us since 2008, and note that we always allow folks to self-identify. More about how and why we do this here.

One part church + one part Laotian ceremony = a seriously awesome wedding day

Anna and Brad had two weddings in one day! They began by getting married in the same church Brad’s parents were wed in, and rounded out the evening with a traditional Laotian ceremony. The festivities included a customized newspaper wedding announcement, a Laotian string ceremony known as baci, and so much delicious-looking food (look at those fruit kebabs!) you could almost taste it through your screen.

A love-heavy rainy day wedding in a New York barn

Rebecca and Meeka had to battle downpours throughout their entire wedding day, but even the most torrential rain couldn’t stop them from smiling! The two held their ceremony in a barn decorated with animal skulls and rope, and cleverly used white roses to mark seats intended for family members. After jumping the broom, they moved on to the reception space, where plenty of dancing and toasting followed. If you still want more after looking at the photos, videographers Love Brain Films shared their wedding video right here. Get the tissues out! It’s a good one.

Plants vs. Zombies, wedding flags, and tons of TARDIS blue: a sunny North Carolina wedding

Erika and Emmanuel chose a Raleigh, North Carolina Moroccan restaurant called Babylon for their ceremony and reception spot. The venue’s brightly colored interior and exterior definitely complemented the fun vibe of the day! Wedding decor included wedding flags decorated with hearts and flags that read “Yay” and “Huzzah,” and Erika and Emmanuel carried their own “Mr. and Mrs. Emmerika” flags.

An intimate kaleidoscopic family-focused wedding from the Philippines

Hasmukh and Kathlynn fused a whole lot of color into their wedding day. Everything is color-drenched and squeal-worthy, from the bride’s bright red bouquet and jewelry, to the pink-hued streamers in the ceremony! The wedding decor was 100% DIYed by the couple and their family members. They handcrafted striped and polka-dotted yellow and orange lanterns, created wedding signs with sturdy paper and puff paint, and tucked floral centerpieces into coffee mug vases.
