A girls’ guide to throwing a “surprise musical roast” bachelor party
When you’re a girl and your best friend is a guy, and that guy gets engaged, it just may fall on you to throw the bachelor party. That’s where I found myself a couple months ago. My best friend Erik was getting married and I wanted to throw him a kick-ass bachelor party. One of the groomsman suggested that we throw him surprise musical roast. As Erik, and all his friends, are amazing musicians this was the greatest idea ever. Only… I’ve never been to a bachelor party before, and I’ve certainly never thrown one. I fired off a panicked email to Offbeat Bride sponsor and friend Laura from [vendor-heart link="http://rebelbelleweddings.com/"]Rebel Belle Weddings[/vendor-heart] who helped me pull of the coolest bachelor party/surprise musical roast ever! Here’s how we did it.
Offbeat bachelorette party ideas: the second coming
Inspired by a recent comment on the paintball hen’s party adventure, I thought I’d showcase some more offbeat bachelorette party ideas. From over-the-top, to easy-to-plan, these bachelorette ideas are super-fun with no plastic penises in sight…
Combine traditions and interests with a Henna & Halo party
The night before our interfaith wedding, we had a big party. My partner Shreyas’ mom wanted to have a henna party, where all the women get mehendi, but she wanted to have the guys come, too. Shreyas objected, saying mehendi was a “girl thing” and didn’t want to do it. We compromised by having a manly activity too, and thus the Henna & Halo party was born.
Throw this low-cost, super-fun, beer-lorette party
When I talked to my Maid of Honor about my bachelorette party, all I asked was to try to keep the cost down — as people would be traveling and not everybody has a ton of money — and that I could wear jeans. My Maid of Honor and other local bridesmaid absolutely rocked my bachelorette, or beer-lorette, as it was called.
