We’ve heard about southern charm… but we never really saw it until we laid our eyes on the photos of this southern gothic gay wedding (captured by Photographer Mary Beth)! Our Offbeat couple Brian and Josh gave us nothing but class and elegance on their big day… oh, and an epic outfit change! But seriously, if your wedding mood board has anything close to “enchanting,” “moody,” or “elevated” on it, you’re going to want to keep reading! And you'll never guess where this couple tied the knot… perhaps the last place you'd expect – but you're likely going to want to add it to your list of potential wedding venues.
FOUR gorgeous suits at this southern gothic gay wedding
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again… we love a velvet suit here at Offbeat Wed. And Brian and Josh gave us everything we love with their dashing green velvet suits they wore during their ceremony. I mean, velvet is just so classy and elegant! They looked so good that we’re almost mad at them for changing… almost. But we just can’t be, since their second outfits are just as good. That’s right, these grooms had an outfit change – and they kept the class coming with their pristine white suits with black accents. We often see brides changing outfits for the reception (often for practical reasons… have you tried gettin’ down on the dance floor with a four-foot dress train behind you?!), but these two handsome grooms just wanted to seize the moment and look fabulous twice. And we’re all so grateful to them for giving us so much style in one wedding. Now that’s southern hospitality, y’all!
The reception vibes at this southern gothic gay wedding
Brian and Josh love a dark, moody vibe and wanted to reflect this style at their wedding. One brilliant way they accomplished this was by opting for black candelabra centerpieces that cast a warm, enchanting glow over the festivities, rather than the typical floral bouquets… talk about AM-BI-ANCE! The dark green and black color palette, the “till death” cake topper, the record player, and the floating chandeliers all contribute to the brooding aesthetic… very southern gothic of them. But apart from the style, their day was anything but dark – everyone was excited to celebrate the beautiful love Brian and Josh have for each other!
Each moment was a dance of classy elegance and joyful celebration, creating an unforgettable tapestry of love and togetherness for Brian and Josh.

Now for the venue for this southern gothic gay wedding
“Going to the chapel, and we’re gonna get married…” But it’s not what you think (and yes, that song will be in our heads all day now, too)! Brian and Josh said “I do” amidst some enchanting southern chapel ruins (another “tick” for the southern gothic gay wedding vibe). We love this modern wedding venue – not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but it also is a callback to wedding traditions of old that, for some couples, might need some updating. As a gay couple in the south, Brian and Josh had some challenges during their wedding planning process. So to be able to reclaim a chapel to celebrate their love is not only aesthetically an excellent choice but also a gorgeous testament that LOVE IS LOVE!
We’re dying over the elegant, dark style at this southern gay wedding
Brian and Josh are in it “'til death,” and we’re so grateful to be able to showcase and celebrate the day they made it official (and get some amazing wedding inspo out of it, too!). Cheers to you, Brian and Josh, as you begin this next chapter together! May it be the first of many!
