When we say we’ve seen a galaxy’s worth of Star Wars weddings, we mean it… but Erika and Tyler decided to skip the Jedi robes and lean into the delicious drama of the Dark Side. This wasn't just a theme: it was a visual narrative of balance, staged at the Art Deco height of The Oviatt in Los Angeles. From a Sith-inspired crimson gown to a droid delivering the goods, this wedding proved that sometimes, the Dark Side really does have more fun.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something… SITH?

Erika rejected the traditional white-aisle expectations for a completely non-traditional red wedding dress. This wasn't just a “pop of color”… it was a voluminous, floor-sweeping statement in a deep, bloody crimson that felt more like a regal Sith wedding robe than a typical bridal gown. To amp up the Sith-chic aesthetic, she paired the gown with a dramatic black veil featuring custom-stitched Rebel Alliance symbols (a subtle nod to the inevitable rebellion, even within a Sith-led empire).

Tyler balanced her intensity with a sharp blue suit and a matching Rebel Alliance tie, proving that the Light Side can hold its own on the fashion front. The commitment to the bit was in the engineering: the florals weren't just stems wrapped in ribbon. These arrangements were built directly into actual lightsaber hilts. The color palette stuck to a bold red and blue, symbolizing the two sides of the Force in every petal. Even their hair was on script, with Erika rocking double buns that would make Princess Leia (or a high-ranking Imperial officer) proud.

I find your lack of droids… disturbing
The ceremony space at The Oviatt was a masterclass in immersive storytelling. Guests were seated on either the “Light Side” or “Dark Side,” with the groom’s side glowing in blue lights and candles, and the bride’s side bathed in menacing red hues. The effect was cinematic… less like a rooftop chapel and more like a galactic council meeting where two powerful forces were about to unite. Boba Fett and a Stormtrooper acted as ushers, ensuring that any Rebel spies were kept in check while guests took their seats.

The processional was a high-tech affair. R2-D2 served as the ring bearer, rolling down the aisle with the rings perched on a custom Star Wars-themed pillow. The ultimate power move? Lord Vader himself served as the officiant, bringing a level of gravitas (and perhaps a little heavy breathing) to the proceedings.

Instead of a standard unity candle, the couple performed a “smoke ceremony.” Leaning into the sci-fi lore, they each poured a potion into a carved tree trunk. The plan was simple: if it created smoke, they were destined to be together. Naturally, the smoke rose, proving the Force was firmly on their side. The ceremony script was filled with playful nods to rebels, rogues, and Force-sensitive friends, making the moment feel like a gathering of the ultimate alliance.

Cantina vibes, Coruscant tables, and cake cut with a kyber crystal

The reception transformed the Oviatt into a galactic map. Each table represented a different planet from the Star Wars universe: Mustafar and Dagobah represented the Dark Side, while Tatooine and Hoth represented the Light. The wedding party sat at Coruscant (the seat of both Jedi and Imperial power) while the couple claimed Naboo for their sweetheart table, a planet symbolizing the beauty of both light and shadow. The centerpieces featured detailed glass globes containing miniature AT-ATs trudging through synthetic snow, all topped with (you guessed it) more lightsabers.

The bar was a highlight of the evening, featuring a “Signature Drinks” menu with items like the “Youngling Yoda” (a blueberry rum cocktail) and “Darth Punch” (Jabba’s jungle juice). A nearby sign featured the couple's two cats dressed as a Sith Lord and a Jedi Knight, reminding everyone that their veterinary clinic meet-cute was the real origin story of this alliance.

The couple used lightsaber-hilted knives to slice into their black-frosted, two-tiered Star Wars cake. For entertainment, they skipped the standard wedding games for a Bounty Hunter challenge: a high-energy mash-up of musical chairs and a Find the Guest scavenger hunt that had folks racing across the dance floor. This was followed by a romantic first dance and a lively Money Dance, honoring Erika’s cultural heritage and blending tradition with their fandom-forward vision.

This Sith wedding has rebel advice for a Force-sensitive future
Erika and Tyler met while working at a veterinary clinic, and their love for animals is just as strong as their love for the Force. Their advice? Lean fully into the things that shaped your story. When you embrace the fandom with this much intentionality, the experience becomes more than just a party… it becomes a chapter in your own saga! Whether you’re hiring droids or just including your pets in the bar signage, the most offbeat thing you can do is refuse to compromise on the fun.
