This couple took their own wedding photos in Yosemite National Park

Photos by Marcie and Shawn Photo

Shawn and Marcie got married in the Oakland California Temple after being friends for 16 years and in love for nine. Marcie says, “When I say finally, it's like FINALLY, married.” Cameras aren't allowed inside the temple, but photos still happened — courtesy of the couple themselves! Shawn and Marcie took a few images of their own reception before trekking five hours to Yosemite National Park where they did their own formal wedding portraits. They took turns behind the camera, or let a tripod do the work, and even shot in film! The results are intimate, personal, and (ahem) au naturale. Just saying you need to scroll to the very end.

  1. This is so great! I bet it was a lot of fun and just take the whole memory piece to a whole other level

  2. I love this!

Considering that my boyfriend and I are both artists (photography and film aren’t really new to us), I think we might do this too.

  3. Beautiful! We are looking to elope in Yosemite and want a laid-back wedding as well. Where was your reception? Everywhere I am seeing is indoor and we’re trying to think outside of the box and rent a home to do it in the backyard, etc. Any help is appreciated! 🙂
