Our wedding theme was to have a queer AF wedding that was hopefully as much a gift to the people we love as it was to us. Our wedding included a ceremony musical theater interlude, a Stevie Nicks-themed cocktail hour, bomb food, bomb dancing, homemade wedding cakes, and social justice and queer-themed tables. You can see the full wedding here, but here's a bit about those queer-themed tables…
How did we pick the folks to be featured for our queer-themed wedding tables? Well, when it came to picking out queer icons, it was BIPOC, trans women, and cis women to the front… cis dudes to the back. Obviously, it was hard to choose!
My partner Mason did most of picking, but we chose icons that we personally connected to — whether it was their art, advocacy work, or other contributions to queer culture. Mase wrote the bios and our digital artist, Melissa Szwan took portraits and did renderings of them!
Then we attempted to pair icons and family/friends that would get a kick out of the pairing. Like Mason's law school buds got activists Sylvia Rivera or Angela Davis. My comicon/theater friends got Xena…it was a fun game!

This is such a good idea!
