Remember WAY back in 2001 when Carrie Bradshaw wigged TF out when Aidan planned to propose with a pear-shaped diamond on Sex and the City? The even weirder part was that she balked at yellow gold, which of course is back with a vengeance now. It seems like a very long time ago. Maybe it's just me and the hazards of writing for an alternative wedding blog, but it seems like no gem shape or color is out of bounds anymore.
I think pear-shaped engagement rings are benefiting from a general trend in asymmetrical, organic, raw, and generally more alternative shapes in gems. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Pete Davidson shared a hugh jass pear-shaped rock on Instagram recently. And fashion icons like Victoria Beckham continue to incorporate the shape into their (many) rings.
I wanted to see what was going on in the world of the pear and how weird and gorgeous and HUGE they could get. So I went a-hunting. I'm totally going to cheat by including some non-diamonds in here, too. Fight me. Let's shop!
