Lakeside love at sunset at this Ithaca farmers market wedding

Lakeside love at sunset at this Ithaca farmers market wedding

We had a specific color scheme of plum, turquoise, and burnt orange. We tried to have meaning and community in all of our choices. My shoes were hand-painted by my good friend who is a silk artist, the rings were made from diamonds from my grandmother's pin by a friend who is a jeweler, the ring pillow I made from the lace from my mother's wedding dress that my two aunts also wore, the cake was made by our two friends (and life lesbian mentors), our guest book my mother made, our engagement photography was done by our maid of honor, and all of our music was made by our friends as a gift…

"It's the Super Moon, bruh" at this Spaceship Earth forest rave wedding

“It’s the Super Moon, bruh” at this Spaceship Earth forest rave wedding

We met at a Full Moon Gathering campout, Moontribe's 20th anniversary. It was a fantastic weekend and we heard echoed throughout the party, "It's the Super Moon, bruh" as the explanation for the awesomeness everywhere. Five years later, still following cosmic novelties and electronic music, we trekked to Oregon for the Solar Eclipse festival Symbiosis. Josh proposed during the eclipse with the solar ring as my engagement ring! We carried this theme through our engagement shoot and wedding.

This small Brooklyn wedding had wine, plants, and a red dress that slayed

This small Brooklyn wedding had wine, plants, and a red dress that slayed

Lauren and Andrew did not want a traditional wedding in any sense of the word. Lauren’s vintage-style custom red dress was the first way we can tell that this couple did things their way and it WORKED. They chose to have a small wedding which meant they got to spend quality time with everyone there, a major goal.

There were sweet speeches, killer cocktails, sweet rustic details, and lots of wine.

Mardi Gras meets Chicago at this stunning donuts and dogs wedding

Mardi Gras meets Chicago at this stunning donuts and dogs wedding

Rescue dogs and donuts! Our wedding had modern and vintage touches but no clear "theme" other than Our Favorite Things. Rescue dogs, donuts, pizza, New Orleans, Chicago, and each other. We wanted our wedding to "feel like us" and it sure did. Our dog is a rescue and I am on the board of a local rescue, so we had lots of references to the dog and organization throughout the day, from the sweatshirts the girls got ready in to our specialty cocktail. We're a modern couple of blended religious backgrounds so we decided our wedding was the perfect event to set the tone for a life of unapologetic joy.

Two film lovers had a Hawaiian Jurassic Park wedding at the REAL film location

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom comes out today! We’ve got a Jurassic Park wedding that took place in one of the REAL film locations: “We didn't even know we wanted a themed (or destination) wedding until I was browsing venue sites and came across Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii. When I first saw the photos of the sweeping valley and dramatic mountains I laughed and told my partner that it looked like Jurassic Park…then we googled it…and it WAS Jurassic Park! Well, at least a few of the filming locations. We knew right then and there that we were going to Hawaii…”

How we're making a Swedish kissing tradition into a poly-friendly, queer-friendly wedding ritual

How we’re making a Swedish kissing tradition into a poly-friendly, queer-friendly wedding ritual

My fiancé and I hold ethical non-monogamy as one of the values at the core of our relationship. So we are determined to make sure that value is represented at our microwedding. While researching wedding customs traditional to our ethnic backgrounds, we discovered that there actually exists a ritual that’s time-honored, joyful, culturally-specific, and non-monogamous…
